Building Your Ability to Bounce Back
One key to making it through difficult times is the ability to recover from setbacks. While you can’t avoid all of life’s roadblocks, you can develop the coping skills you need to get past them. Ideally, you should start honing those skills long before you need them. Here are some ways of doing that:
Shift your point of view It’s easy to look at challenging situations with blinders on, only seeing their negative elements. Shift your viewpoint and look at them as learning opportunities instead. How can this situation help you grow as a person? Develop an attitude of gratitude Make a habit of finding at least one thing you’re grateful for every day. Write each one down in a journal; when things feel dark, pull this journal out and review it. This can help you see all the positive things you have around you, even when life is at its hardest. Digital Detox Challenge Reminder There’s still time to unplug and reset! Don’t forget to complete all three tiers of the Digital Detox Challenge by May 31st to be entered into the $50 raffle . Whether it’s limiting screen time, logging off social media, or taking a full day tech-free, every step counts toward better balance. Submit your completed challenge form here.
Surround yourself with support Whether it’s family, friends, coworkers or other trusted members of your community, be willing to seek help from your support system. You don’t need to be alone. Practice self-care You will be better able to face setbacks if you’re well-rested and properly nourished. Physical activity can also help improve your outlook, as can regularly taking time to do things that bring you joy. Your Mental Health Matters—Support Is Always Available As we continue recognizing Mental Health Awareness Month , it’s a good time to check in with yourself and take advantage of the support available to you.
