VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — Virginia Beach Depart- ment of Economic Develop- ment received the Gold Excel- lence in Economic Development Award for its 2013 Community Profile iBook in the new me- dia category for communities with populations of 200,000 – 500,000 from the Interna- tional Economic Develop- ment Council (IEDC) . The honor was presented at an awards ceremony during the IEDC Annual Conference in Philadelphia, PA. “These awards are very meaningful to us because it’s an international competition,” said Warren D. Harris , director of Virginia Beach Economic De- velopment. “This is our second year to receive the Excellence Award, and we are honored that other economic development organizations now look to us as innovators in our field.
