of me, that the Father hath sent me.” The majority of the world's popula tion worships at the shrine of sci ence and academic learning. Yet, the Bible-believing C h ris tia n doesn’t need to be taunted because of his continuing belief in the supernatural and miraculous. Miracles must be distinguished from the o rd in a ry workings of nature. For instance, a sunrise declares the glory of God, according to Psalm 19. But we wouldn’t say that it’s a miracle of God because He doesn’t intervene in the natural processes of the universe to bring it about. We’re not refer ring to freaks of nature which may be extraordinary but not necessarily verifications of some spiritual mes sage. The same is true with magic or the occult. Miracles are a reasonable proposi tion. To reject the miracles is the same as refusing to believe in a God who created the universe by His own sovereign power. N a tu ra l law is merely God’s ordinary way of work ing in the world as the Governor of the universe. Miracles are God’s ex traordinary ways of working in the strata of life to accomplish His glo rious redemptive purpose. Thus, to say that a personal God exists, is to admit that “all things are possible.” One prime example of miracles re corded in the Bible is that of the burning bush in Exodus 3:2. We know that desert bushes sometimes will burst into flame because of the intense heat of the areas in which they’re located. They burn and are consumed. In the case of Moses the unusual happened. The plant was not reduced to ashes. There was a pur pose for it. As a result, Moses an swered the call of God to become the liberator of the people of Israel (Ex. 4:13). A similar New Testament example is the unusual load of fish scooped up in broad daylight out of the Sea of Galilee. Peter was a veteran fish erman knowing that schools of fish 27

by Dr. Lloyd T. Anderson, Biola Hour Teacher, and pastor of Bethany Baptist Church, West Covina, Calif. P art O ne A s WE study the Word of God it is thrilling’ to see how miracu lous our wonderful God really is. The Bible is steeped in truths of the glories of our Lord in that which is truly supernatural. The study of miracles naturally appeals to one’s curiosity for they are extraordinary. Such unusual occurrences cannot be explained in terms of modern sci ence. The miracles gave witness to God’s personal intervention in hu man affairs. People who hold that the world is governed by blind, mechani cal and impersonal natural law will oppose Scripture. God didn’t retreat from the universe He created. God interrupted natural processes to prove His person, presence and won derful power. In John 5:36 we have a key verse in the study of the miracles. "But I have greater witness than that of John: for the work which the Fa ther hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness
