Title of Project: Finance Inc., Developing an LGBTQI Inclusive Approach for the Asian Development Bank
APCOM was specifically formed as a coalition of community government, donor sector representatives, along with UN agencies, to strongly advocate regionally and globally for increased investment in line with the need, scale up of MFM HIV intervention programming and increased coverage, research to address gaps in knowledge, and the promotion of individual rights for MSM and transgender people across the Asia Pacific region. The main thrust of APCOM is to develop an LGBTQI inclusive approach for improved access to (productive) financial resources and employment, social services, health, and education for political participation through the proposed meetings and conferences which have all top business and finance sector leaders, as well as political leaders in the ASEAN forums. The expected outcomes include diversity and inclusion awareness in advancing LGBTQI rights, LGBTQI community partners are able and aware of how to work and engage with the banking and financing sector, a full identification of the data gaps on LGBTQI exclusion and economic marginalization, as well as data on LGBTQI exclusion and economic marginalization for the 4 countries Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR and the Philippines. Partnerships established between ADB and APCOM. ADB and in country consortium partners for work on a national level with the local ADB missions, as well as between diversity and inclusion networks of the banking and financing sector and APCOM and its partners. The Asian Development Bank has developed and implements a SOGI/LGBTQI inclusive strategy and staff is sensitive to LGBTQI issues assessing projects and programs.

The ASEAN SOGIE Caucus (ASC) is a regional network of LGBTIQ human rights defenders and civil society organizations working in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region. The ASC is a unique regional membership-based Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans(gender), Intersex and Queer (LGBTIQ) network with a specific mandate focusing on engaging the ASEAN integration mechanism.
