MT. PALAOPAO UPPER MANGIMA TRIBAL COMMUNITIES (MPUMATRIC),

Title of Project: Formulation of the Talaandig Tribe’s Indigenous Peoples Plan in The Palaopao and Upper Mangima Tribal Communities

The Mt. Palaopao Upper Mangima Tribal Communities (MPUMATRIC) was organized way back on October 8, 2003, after a Mt. Palaopao Stakeholders Conference. It is an Indigenous Peoples Organization of the Talaandig-Higaonon communities of Manolo Fortich and Sumilao, Bukidnon. As an organization, it is legally registered as a non-stock, non-profit organization at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in June 2006. MPUMATRIC is culturally driven and self-help, mostly through voluntary, collective and personal resources of the community and its leaders. The Formulation of the Talaandig tribes Indigenous Peoples Plan in the Palaopao and Upper Mangima Tribal Communities project implements Chapter IV (Right to Self-Governance and Empowerment) of R.A. 8371 (Indigenous Peoples Rights Act). It aims to assist the Talaandig- Higaonon tribe in the municipalities of Manolo Fortich and Sumilao, Bukidnon to formulate an Indigenous Peoples Plan to be lobbied and incorporated to the respective barangay development plans and most importantly, to the Municipal Comprehensive Land Use Plans (CLUP) of the Municipal LGUs. Once already in place, it will be an instrument to correct and mitigate the historic injustice that demands restitutive and restorative measures for the injuries and damages suffered and sustained by the Talaandig peoples.

Title of Project: Reclaiming Ancestral Lands Sustaining Indigenous Culture

The Foundation of OND HESED, a Hebrew word for doing compassion and righteousness, traces its roots from the Social Service Ministries of the Oblates of Notre Dame (OND), a local congregation of religious women. Since its establishment in 1999, it successfully broadened its congregational engagements on social and development services by reaching out not only within the confines of the church structures, but also to the most vulnerable and unserved sectors of society regardless of race, ethnic affiliation, religious beliefs, and gender.
