SIMPLER INCOME TAX FOR THE SIMPLEST SMALL BUSINESSES

28 March 2012 A consultation on proposals for introducing a voluntary simplified cash basis for Income Tax and simplified arrangements for certain expenses has been published. The proposals within this consultation are relevant to self-employed individuals carrying on a trade, profession or vocation, their advisers, and representative organisations. Consultation: Simpler Income Tax for the Simplest Small Businesses MAKING TAX EASIER, QUICKER AND SIMPLER FOR SMALL BUSINESS 4 April 2012 HMRC has published a response to the Office of Tax Simplification’s (OTS) small business tax review. The Budget document responded in broad terms to many of the OTS’s proposals for administrative improvements to the tax system. This separate paper provides a comprehensive response to all of the OTS’s specific tax administration recommendations. Making tax easier, quicker and simpler for small business Red Tape Challenge RED TAPE CHALLENGE SETS RETAILERS FREE FROM REGULATIONS 3 August 2011 Plans to scrap or simplify more than 160 regulations, freeing the public and retailers from rules that are unnecessarily burdensome, overly bureaucratic or completely redundant have been announced today by Business Secretary Vince Cable. The proposals are the first results from the Red Tape Challenge and will see significant changes to legislation that will make life easier for businesses and promote personal freedoms. Read the full press release from the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills 5 October 2011 The next phase of the Red Tape Challenge will focus on over 160 different employment related regulations including the rules on collective redundancies, employment agencies, immigration checks, the National Minimum Wage and statutory sick pay. The campaign asks for a variety of suggestions about how regulations can be improved, simplified or even abolished, whilst also ensuring that the current standard of employment rights for employees are maintained.
