JOINT TAX AGENT STRATEGY STEERING GROUP

2 November 2011 Details of the Joint Tax Agent Strategy Steering Group forum have now been published. Joint Tax Agent Strategy Steering Group (JTASSG) is a forum through which the tax agent community can steer the development of HMRC's Agent Strategy and the associated change programme over the Spending Review period (2011-15). Proposals include the development of a new, more secure agent enrolment process, putting control of more client transactions into agents' hands and supporting the profession to maintain and, where necessary, improve standards. The group comprises representatives from the main tax agent professional bodies and has been established to: · provide strategic leadership and insight to the programme on priorities, scope and proposed delivery timetable · identify the risks associated with and the benefits of change for agents · contribute to the development and delivery of external communications about the programme · provide oversight of the design, testing and roll-out of new services, processes and infrastructure Follow this link for more information 23 November 2011 The Office of Tax Simplification (OTS) is currently working on identifying areas of the tax system that cause the most complexity and uncertainty for small businesses. To do this, the OTS is undertaking a range of face-to-face meetings with small businesses and their advisers. They also have two major surveys of the small business community in progress. They want to complement this evidence with a survey of the tax agent community. Their aim with the agent survey is to identify what causes the most problems in practice and what changes would most help agents and their small business clients. With this in mind, the OTS would like to invite you as a member of the tax agent community to participate in the survey and provide them with your views on simplifying the tax system. The closing date for responses is 30 November 2011. OTS SURVEY TAX AGENT COMMUNITY
