Neighbors Care Alliance

Greater Vail Community ReSources reached out to the Millers about the growing need for volunteer support. “They told us there was a need, and we agreed to be homebound meal volunteers,” they said. “We look forward to volunteering together. It brings us joy, strengthens our relationship, and it's something we can do for others.” Every week, the Millers deliver meal boxes to two households. “We talk with them and see how they are doing. We care about them and their well-being,” they said. For the Millers, these interactions go beyond simply dropping off food—they've built genuine relationships with the participants they serve. One of their participants has been with them from the very start. “She is always such a joy,” they said. “We’ve built a special connection over the years, and it's really rewarding to check in on her and make sure she has everything she needs.” Another participant has goats, and the Millers enjoy seeing the baby goats bounce around during their visits. The Millers shared, “It’s always fun to watch the new babies run around.” Greater Vail Community ReSources’ Homebound Older Adult Program provides essential food and fosters connections between volunteers and homebound community members. The Millers, while modest about their role, cherish the small part they play in this worthwhile endeavor. “It’s fun for us to be a part of this program. We

feel fortunate to help others in such a meaningful way.” Through their volunteer efforts, the Millers bring light and care to the lives of those they serve. Greater Vail Community ReSources: Connecting Volunteers with Homebound Older Adults For the past five years, Dan and Marcia Miller have been selfless volunteers with Greater Vail Community ReSources, an organization that provides weekly meal boxes for homebound older adults in Southeast Pima County. Through their work, the Millers help deliver meals to adults who are unable to leave their homes, ensuring they have access to nutritious food and a friendly face to check in on them each week.
