Fylde Senior Colts take their place in the Lancashire Rugby Colts Cup Finals on Sunday, 27th April when they will face Preston Grasshoppers in the Joe McDonagh U18 Trophy Final (ko 14.00) being staged at Eccles RUFC. The other finals that day will be: Alan James U17 Trophy: Sedgley Park vs. Aldwinians. KO 11.00 Rob Briers U17 Cup: Firwood Waterloo vs. Liverpool Collegiate. KO 12.30 Frank Morgan U18 Cup: Wigan vs. Leigh. KO 15.30 In a previous round Fylde won by 5-42 at Sedgley Park and ‘Hoppers beat Widnes by 39-25 at Lightfoot Green.
LSA Vs Liverpool College 21-15 LSA Vs Scarisbrick Hall 45-34
It’s been a positive year for Rugby at LSA with all years participating in the Lancashire Cup. Every team has developed so much in such a short space of time, and every student wants to improve in every game. Coached by Fylde 1st teamer Adam Lanigan, the School also has the benefit of a real rugby man, Ray Baker, as Head Teacher, and other top players, Fylde’s Mike Walton and former Fylde & Sedgley Park flanker and now Vale of Lune Head Coach Mark Goodman, on the teaching staff. More students are attending after school training sessions as rugby has become more popular within the School, and hopefully more will join local clubs as the link with the Fylde Rugby Community Foundation continues to grow. Rugby in state schools should be a top priority for the RFU if the recent declining participation rates in adult rugby is to be turned around and the hold that football has across the state sector is to be challenged. That’s why the innovative programme of coaching and rugby development being rolled out successfully across the Fylde Coast by the FRCF is so significant and important. LSA’s U16s have been captained this year by Jacob Filipo, son of Fylde Chairman Matt, who has led the team brilliantly. He’s a member of the Sale Sharks Academy. The team deserved to be in the Lancashire Plate final and hopefully can win one more time. Good luck lads – bring back some more silverware to the Fylde Coast! Although not a very convenient time, any visiting support would be much appreciate.
Good luck lads! All at the Woodlands will be behind you!
MORE SUCCESS FOR SCHOOLS RUGBY ON THE FYLDE COAST! 2024-25 has turned out to be a highly successful one for local schools’ rugby. Only a few weeks ago AKS defeated Stonyhurst College by 20-15 in the Lancashire Schools U’18s Final in a splendid game held at the Woodlands. Lytham St Annes High School has now qualified for the U’16s Lancashire Plate Final against Birkdale High School to be held on Monday, 28th April, at Preston Grasshoppers’ Lightfoot Green ground (ko 14.30). They have battled through rounds against Laurus Ryecroft School (Trafford), Hutton Grammar, Liverpool College and Scarisbrick Hall School to reach the Final.

As always, we are thrilled to have you here at The Woodlands today to cheer us on for one final time in this campaign. In our last match, we faced Wharfedale in a very physical battle. Fylde is delighted to welcome Will Hunt who arrives at the Club on loan from Sale FC. He made his debut against Lymm at the Woodlands last Saturday and slotted into the 1st XV squad to help to cover for the departure of Patrick Bishop who has moved to London with a new job.
Will has National League experience as a fly-half with Preston Grasshoppers as well as Sale FC.
He grew up in the Lancaster area and played rugby at Vale of Lune from the age of five upwards. As a junior he progressed through the Lancashire RFU age grade teams at U17s, U18s & U20s levels. He has Scottish antecedents and has also played for Scotland at U’19s & U’20s levels.
His development was assisted by a period on Myerscough College’s rugby programme.
At a senior level, Will also has experience at Glasgow Warriors, Ayrshire Bulls & Cascais Portugal as well as making his debut for Lancashire’s senior squad in the Sir Bill Beaumont County Championship.
When we asked Will about his most important rugby influence he made the very reasonable point that “It’d be wrong of me to just mention one person as they’re have been so many coaches/players that have really looked after me.” When fly-half Patrick Bishop told the Club that he was moving to a professional business opportunity in London, Joint Head Coach Alex Loney made enquiries about Will’s availability to provide cover in this critical position. Will added “so it all sort of went from there really. Scoring 15 points (three penalties and three conversions) on debut against Lymm was great but could always be more!”
When he’s away from rugby Will has his own Roofing Business.
Welcome to Fylde RFC Will and very good luck!

THE CLUB’S NEW OFFICERS
At a Special General Meeting on Tuesday, 1st April, two new officers of the Club were elected. NEIL RILEY takes over the role of Honorary Secretary and MARK WINDOWS as Interim Treasurer, replacing, respectively, Gary Melling and Andy Cleasby. Neil officially takes the natural step from successful Mini/Junior Secretary, seeing the section successfully grow from 350 players to now over 500+, as well as the introduction of North West Roses Junior Girls team. “I’m really excited to take on this role within the club that I truly love being a part of. From my eldest son Jack who came through our own Mini-Junior ranks to now playing with Halbro North West Teams, Harry, who previously played for Fylde Colts, to my youngest Thomas who now plays an active role in our mighty U10’s. Not forgetting, of course, my amazing (and very tolerant!) wife Kerry who has transformed & operates our Club Shop… The sport & this club have played a huge role in both mine & my family’s lives for many years & I’m extremely proud and honoured to play a small part in Fylde’s huge, iconic history” Club President Anthony Hoskisson said: “As a club we would like to welcome Neil into the role & also thank Mr Gary Melling for all
his hard work & dedication during his tenure as Club Secretary - as well as his ongoing support as he continues his role as U14’s Team Manager. Many thanks too to Andy Cleasby who has worked hard as Hon Treasurer and a welcome to Mark Windows who has agreed to take over on an interim basis.”

PREVIEW BIG MATCH FYLDE V SHEFFIELD RUFC
We are delighted to welcome the players, officials and supporters of Sheffield RUFC to the Woodlands today (ko 15.00), a meeting of the 4th and 2nd placed teams in National 2 (North). Our visitors have had a splendid season and were in the running with Leeds Tykes for the championship up to recent weeks when they lost a couple of games, especially when the two clubs met on 15th Feb at the Sycamores and the Tykes edged a tight and tense match by 24-18.
multi-sport base in Abbeydale Park in November 2022, 29 years later, restored the friendly rivalry. Recent seasons have seen Sheffield competing in Northern regional leagues, most frequently at level five, in the North and Midlands Premier
Divisions. Their promotion from Midlands Premier after finishing in 2nd place in 2021-22 via a play-off brought the clubs facing each other once again last season in Nat Two (North). The 2022-23 season was rather a struggle for Sheffield but they finished comfortably in 10th place in N2(N) well clear of any relegation fears and just one place behind local city rivals Sheffield Tigers. Both are located in the beautiful south west of the city, a few miles apart. Matches between Fylde and Sheffield began in the 1970s and since Marit Table & league matches there were 15 in all up to 1995. Fylde shade the bragging rights by 11-9. Sheffield’s Head Coach since late 2021 is the very experienced former fly-half Anthony Posa whose son has succeeded him as number 10 in the current squad. New Zealand-born Posa, with a Croatian family background, has been a mainstay of the Croatian National squad and earned more than 50 international caps. He is also director of rugby at the University of Sheffield, previously set up the Doncaster Knights Academy and earned four promotions in four years while in charge of Beverley. Their most high profile signing ahead of the 2022-23 season was the accomplished and powerful backrower, Ryan Burrows, who has very senior experience at Rotherham Titans, Leeds Tykes, Newcastle Falcons (including Premiership appearances) and Coventry. The durable and indefatigable no 8 has missed very few games in three seasons. Week in, week out, Ryan is of the leading forwards in N2(North). He’s had another storming campaign notching 14 tries to date. Top points scorer is scrum-half Elliot Fisher who is also having a tremendous season, notching 12 tries to date and, with kicking duties too, a total of 211 points in all putting him 2nd in the N2(N) ranking. He’s partnered at scrum- half with either Callum Posa or Jonathan West. Other mainstays of the squad include lock and Forwards Coach Dominic Parsons, formerly with Championship experience
Prior to that game, Sheffield put together a run of 17 wins and just one defeat between Sept and Feb, a fantastic achievement. They finished 3rd behind Rotherham and Leeds last season and have carried that form and ambition right through this season. Maybe they’ll go one better in 2025-26! They will certainly test Fylde to the limits. Although there’s nothing at stake in the game except pride, two very competitive squads should provide a fine spectacle in dry conditions made for running rugby. It’s hoped that the increase in attendance at the Woodlands which has occurred throughout the season will be replicated in this final league game of the 2024-25 season. Sheffield return to the Woodlands for only the third time in 30 years. There were regular fixtures between the clubs from the mid-1970s season up until 1995, most often at level three in the RFU league system, then called National League Three. Fylde’s return to Sheffield’s well established
20
at Doncaster Knights, and props include Jake Hicklin and Ben Whitney, and Archie Crapper, brother Felix and Matt Adcock in the backrow. Amongst the Sheffield three quarters, wing Christian Hooper has had another very productive campaign with 14 tries to date. Powerful centre Will Smith is also a dangerous attacker.

INTO THE ARCHIVE
The heyday of games between the two clubs was in the late 1970s and early 1980s when both were in the Northern Merit Table and its successor Courage League Three. These were the days when full England internationals could play their regular club rugby amongst clubs outside the elite as well as being recognised for their great talent. So star England fly-half Alan Old was a huge influence within the club as well as at a national level. The 1978/9 programme lists Old on one side and Bill Beaumont for the Lancastrians on the other. Other major influences for the Abbeydale Park club included Bill Reichwald, Brian Firth, George Kirkpatrick and Chris Sharpe to name a few. A little later Miles Pierce, David Holmes, Robin Goodliffe and Nick Crapper featured. Nick’s two sons, Archie and Felix are fixtures in the current squad. Two Fylde players moved to Sheffield in the 1980s/90s, flanker Rob Parr (who has described with great affection his long spell at Abbeydale Park in past match programmes) and team mate, scrum-half Ian Wright, sadly no longer with us.

LASTTIMEOUT: FYLDE DOWN DALE TO SECURE FOURTH
WHARFEDALE 22 V FYLDE 36: MATCH REPORT BY SIMON TAYLOR
Fylde made the always much anticipated trip to the picturesque setting of Wharfedale for their last away trip of the season. They came back with some battered bodies but also a full complement of 5 league points as they outscored the hosts 6 tries to 3. This was despite playing almost 50 minutes a man down, after Chris Rudkin was red carded late on in the first half. He was perhaps unlucky, or at least unlucky to be the only player dismissed, given Fylde lost another man in the same incident, to an eye injury. With Will Hunt unavailable, Alex Clayton was asked to play the number 10 role, a tough position to fil in at. Things did not start well as Clayton’s opening kick-off went out on the full, giving Wharfedale the scrum on halfway. From this they stretched the Fylde defence both ways before finding an inside line for their own deputising number 10, Omari Kaup-Samuels to scoot in under the posts, converting his own try to give Wharfedale an early 7-0 lead. It was a lead that didn’t last long, as Fylde won possession back from the re-start, Dave Fairbrother made a half break on the left and found Corey Bowker on his shoulder, Bowker taking the ball at pace to run in from 15 out. Clayton’s first conversion attempt slid wide, but Fylde were on the board at 7-5 down. The fast start to the game did not let up as Fylde forced more possession and territory, a big bust in midfield by skipper Toby Harrison seeing them move downfield towards the river. A first chance was bombed as the last pass flew into touch, but Fylde soon had another chance, after another good line break, this time by Ben Dorrington, and Sam Stott’s strength allowed him to stretch out when held up just short and force the ball down for a go-ahead try. Clayton converted this time, and it was 12-7 to Fylde after 12 minutes. Just when it looked like a sun-soaked points fest might be on the cards, defences tightened up for a 15-minute spell before a high tackle by Fylde on their own 22 allowed Kaup-Samuels to knock over a penalty to make it 12-10. Back came Fylde again, Clayton had
settled into the game and was later to be named Fylde’s man of the match by the home team. His line kicking from penalties moved Fylde into the danger zone again, and this time it was skipper Harrison who was strong enough on the line to dot down, a gorgeous conversion from wide out by Clayton nudging Fylde further ahead at 19-10 on the half hour mark. On a scorchio of a day the Fylde coaches decided to rest props Bowker & Pete Altham on the half hour mark, with Chris Rudkin and Rob King replacing them. This rest period was to be a very short one however, as a Wharfedale catch and drive line out near Fylde’s line just 3 minutes later resulted in the assistant referee alerting his senior counterpart to foul play. The result was a rather bemused looking Rudkin being shown a red card for punching and Rob King leaving the field having been punched. Friendly fire was doubtful, so it is possible Fylde were unfortunate to be the only ones to suffer sanction in this incident. Fylde would now have to play nearly 50 minutes a man down, and Bowker & Altham were back in the fray before they could get much air back in their lungs. Fylde dug deep as Wharfedale looked to take immediate advantage, and some stout defence kept the home team out. When they were finally able to turn ball over and exit with penalties, Fylde made a smash and grab last foray into opposition territory, setting up a
24

catch and drive which at the second attempt Sam Stott joined and crashed over for his second try, meaning Fylde had not only survived but had managed to increase their lead to 24-10 at the break. In the second stanza Stott did not reappear, having taken a blow to the nose, the second facial injury he has received at this venue in recent years. Ben Turner replaced him, and Lewis Quinn came on for Greg Morgan. Wharfedale started strongly and made an early breakthrough with replacement Josh Burridge forcing his way over to make it 24-15, as they sought to use the slope and extra man to fight their way back into the game. The second half gradually began to become more fractious and spikier, the officials having to work hard to keep control. Quinn’s spell was brief as he was forced off on 51 minutes, Matt Ashcroft making a welcome return. In amongst the heavy ball carrying and fierce defensive efforts from both packs, the effort was made to create space for the flair brigade out wide. On 52 minutes Fylde managed to execute a back move perfectly with deft hands giving winger Adam Lanigan just enough space to get over in the left corner and stretch the lead out to 29-15. Personnel numbers were then evened up as Wharfedale’s Dan Wills, only just on the pitch, tipped a player off the ball and was yellow carded. Fylde continued to do the hard work and look to release the ball when it was on, and they finally gave Freddie Reader his first real chance of the day on 61 minutes, a chance he accepted, as he jinked the first man, broke clear and left the last man grasping at thin air as he raced in from halfway, making Clayton’s conversion a formality. Fylde finally had some daylight at 36-15. The feisty side of the game was never far from the surface. Fylde won another penalty, but it was reversed when they pushed the man over trying to get the ball off him for the quick tap. Wharfedale were then down to 14 men again as Jake Armstrong was yellow carded on 65 minutes in an incident that saw Dave Fairbrother replaced by Ben Dorrington as the attritional collisions took their toll.
Wharfedale’s Green Machine never gives up, and they created a good score from being under the cosh. First, they stole Fylde line out near they own line, then earned a penalty which they hoofed down into Fylde’s 22. The catch and drive sucked in the Fylde defence, and they then span the ball, Fylde running out of defenders as Zeb Heys crossed for the score. Replacement Jimmy Howarth converted and with 9 minutes left it was 36-22. Fylde came back at Wharfedale and had an easily kickable penalty which would have put them 3 scores clear. Pragmatism being low on the agenda, they chose to tap and go and were turned over. As Wharfedale looked to exit searching for a bonus point try and to make the last few minutes nervy ones, Fylde winger Cam Smith knocked on looking for the one-handed interception. The inevitable yellow card followed, and Fylde were down to 13 against 15. Good defence meant they could see out time and deny the home team even the consolation of a try bonus point. Often, at the end of the season, on firm pitches, with the sun shining, defence can become less intense than usual. There was none of that in this game, despite there being 9 tries, it was bruising and physical stuff, with a decent amount of flair breaking out for good measure. A good-sized crowd was treated to a fierce no holds-barred game. A rest week with only 1 game left in the season seemed daft a while ago but now is a godsend. Having worked very hard to secure fourth spot, Fylde will look to get ready for one last battle with yet another Yorkshire team, when second placed Sheffield visit the Woodlands on the 26th of April. Joint head coach Alex Loney said; “We are very happy with the performance and the win. Wharfedale is a tough place to come, especially with us both trying to finish fourth and it was great to secure that which represents a good achievement. It was a mixture of physicality, being brave with the ball and some good tries scored, in the face of some adversity, being down to 14 men for a long time. The scrum really held up and the forwards fronted up against a tough pack.”

FYLDE RUGBY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION: ELITE DEVELOPMENT DAY SENIORTEAMSFIXTURES & RESULTS 2024-25
An extract from Mark Carden’s forthcoming nook “A Miscellany of Fylde Rugby”
team-mates for the Manchester University side in 1951, 1952, 1953 and 1954.
As a player Jack was an accomplished fly half and could cover most positions in the backs. A new lease of life was found with a move to the wing later in his career and during the 1959-60 season, Jack ran in no less than 7 tries in one game against Harrogate, “…..he had 3 in the first half and 4 in the second”. This within weeks of a 31-12 victory over Preston Grasshoppers in which, “Quarmby contributed 22 of Fylde’s points with 3 tries, 5 conversions and a penalty goal”. Overall, Jack’s records and the local press attest to the facts; that he represented Fylde on 312 occasions, scoring 108 tries and kicking 584 goals. If we assume a half and half split between penalty kicks and conversions, then using today’s scoring system, this amounts to an incredible 2,000 points and a spot right at the top of the all-time scoring charts, probably in the company only of Edward “Pop” Ogden and his much-celebrated round the corner kicking style. A Fylde programme printed in 1990 elicits Jack’s views on school rugby and provides an impressive list of players produced during Jack’s time as a teacher and rugby coach at Blackpool Grammar. These included future club captains Tony Todd and Mark Hesketh, and 1st XV stalwarts such as Pete Faulkner, Chris Wilding and Phil Moran. Once the playing days were over, his years of experience as a school teacher were put to good use in the creation of the club’s Mini Rugby section. Here he was instrumental in once again bringing through a generation of rugby players, imbued with his own deep love of the game. As Fylde’s closest contact with the RFU, Jack brought the idea to the club in 1973. He hired an official RFU film, brought a projector from the school, and invited parents to come and see what was being planned. Now well into his 90s, Jack can be seen regularly at Fylde, enjoying the rugby and the company of the Fylde members, many of whom have benefitted from his ceaseless enthusiasm and commitment to the club.

Jack Quarmby was born on December 28th, 1931, slightly more than a decade after the formation of Fylde RFC and was destined to play a huge part in its history. He was spotted as a youngster playing for Thornton Cleveleys and was brought to Fylde in 1951, where he recalls a friendly and welcoming atmosphere with a strong camaraderie, that meant he would keep coming back. 3 years and 4 months of National Service in the RAF might have kept Jack away, but fortune smiled upon all of us as he was posted to Weeton, from where he could generally travel to play at weekends. Jack attended the University of Manchester, followed by a year at Carnegie in readiness to become a French Teacher at Blackpool Grammar School. He continued to travel to represent Fylde at both 15s and 7s whenever possible, although did line up against his Fylde

TIME FOR THE INTRODUCTION OF PLAY-OFFS IN NATIONAL RUGBY
A possible Play Off System for National League Rugby – by Mark Nelson
I’ve been having a look at how this could be organised. Can I state categorically that this is NOT an official system but one I have devised to fit the rationale of maximum involvement and opportunity for promotion or jeopardy of relegation … in other words you are never out of the hunt until you get knocked out in a play off game in the promotion race or win a game in the relegation dog fight. So as not to upset anyone in our own league I have used the N2 East league positions as of April 6th to outline a proposed system on promotion and relegation. Now the following model will send shivers through many areas of the club game but, as I say, it is on the cards and this is a format that would involve every team in the League. In order for it to fit, I would also suggest starting the season a week earlier at the last weekend in August, playing on Easter Saturday and dropping one of the ‘weather weekends’. It may not appeal to everyone but one thing that is sure about the set up is ….it would make things very interesting and there would be very few, if any, games that were meaningless in terms of the effect of the result. Also, how knife edge would those end of season play off games be??? END OF REGULAR SEASON TABLE AFTER 26 GAMES (top 6 sides go into Promotion Play Offs, sides 7 – 14 go into Relegation Play Offs)
There has been quite a lot of speculation as to how the RFU will react to the 2nd resolution passed at the SGM which was passed by 554 to 127. It was effectively directing the RFU to engage in formal consultation with the “wider game“ on future decisions that affect the game as a whole. By the way, will someone please think of appropriate nouns for level 3 and 4 and possibly 5, than The ‘Community Game’ or ‘Grassroots Clubs’. I digress. In short, hopefully “The Game“ will be now asked to contribute to the decisions taken on a regular basis and people who are active at the coalface be asked to actually be in meetings . That’s if we are “The Coalface Clubs“ !!!. That being the case, one implementation I have heard that is gathering momentum, is that a Play Off system will be introduced in The National Leagues. This could also be rolled out across the rest of the leagues. It would revolutionise the leagues and not only affect promotion but also relegation. The premise is that as the leagues progress post-Christmas, many clubs find themselves in a kind of ‘mid table mediocrity’ situation. Too far behind the promotion place (as it stands just one club goes up) and far enough ahead of the bottom slots where two go down and on some occasions, like this year, maybe only one goes down from one of the leagues. Therefore, there can be a lack of ‘edge’ and ‘outcome’ in many games other than the natural competitiveness of the players and coaches. If there was a play off process at the end of the regular campaign then that would keep every match “relevant“ right through to the end of the season. I believe that they will want these play offs to run ‘deep’ involving the vast majority of the clubs in the league. It will not only keep things interesting it gives the opportunity for an extra home game or two at the end of the season.

FYLDE RUGBY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION: ELITE DEVELOPMENT DAY SENIORTEAMSFIXTURES & RESULTS 2024-25 TOPRUGBY PODCASTS One of the most significant changes in the media landscape in the last five years is the extraordinary growth of podcasts – regular audio and/or video pieces on, it seems, every topic under the sun. These can be accessed on any digital device (desk or laptop computer, iPad and mobile phone) as long as you have some kind of network access. They can be recordings of radio programmes or, more usually, are original productions and made available globally. There are thousands of sports podcasts followed by millions of sports lovers. Rugby has a growing menu of these and the point of this short article is to identify some of the best ones. Podcasts vary in production standards but the great majority are highly professional. What follows is a personal, perhaps idiosyncratic, selection of just six enjoyable pods. There are many others which you can explore which may be more to your tastes. Beware, following these can become highly addictive but great fun! Search for these titles on Google to gain simple (mostly free) access to them. 1. Rugby Union Weekly (from BBC Radio 5 Live). Ugo Monye, Chris Jones, Danny Care and Chris Ashton bring you special guests and cover the biggest stories in rugby union. Several programmes a week including in recent days * 6 Nations: Lions watch with the Wallaby captain (41 mins); * 6 Nations: How do England stop France and the GOAT Dupont (40 mins); 6 Nations: The weekend review with Barclay & Warburton (56 mins). 2. Stick to Rugby: published by The Overlap. Join rugby legends Lawrence Dallaglio, David Flatman, Tom Shanklin, and Katy Daley-McLean as they share real stories, fresh perspectives, and dive into everything you love about the game. They aim to involve legendary guests from ex-pros, to celebrity fans. (first episode 29th Jan 2025) 3. Rugby Lives: published by The Rugby Journal. Another brand new podcast which is bringing interviews with people from beyond the sport of rugby to talk about their passion for the oval ball. The first two interviews this week are with actor/comedian Danny Roche and Michelin-starred chef and lifelong Gloucester fan Tom Kerridge who talks about his love for the Cherry & Whites growing up in the West Country and the role models he found at his local club. 4. T he Rugby Pod: Think pub chat, but with some of the biggest characters in the game including Big Jim Hamilton, Andy Goode, Dan Biggar, Producer Rob and weekly guests. Claims that it’s “the most listened to Rugby podcast in the world”. Cover the latest news, rumours insight and stories, but with plenty of humour, opinions and “the best interviews from the game”, including current and former internationals. Recent episodes include: * England Falter, Ireland Fire & Scotland Survive (71 mins); * Le Crunch, Le Craic and Le Colosseum - 6 Nations Week 2 preview (46 mins); * The Shaun Edwards Special- the toughest coach in rugby (46 mins) 5. The Eggchasers Rugby Podcast is a Rugby Union Podcast that doesn’t take itself, or the game, too seriously. One of the longest running rugby podcasts. Tim Cocker, Jonathan Beardmore & Phil Largan have a lifetime of following & playing rugby and bring you real rugby chat straight from the clubhouse. Recent pods include: * “HAPPY SIXMAS”: previewing the Six Nations AND look back over the rugby week, including the Bill Sweeney interview and Premiership rugby week. * “BISMARCK PANZER” The final round of Pool games in the Champions Cup, looking ahead to the Knockout stages and reviewing the international squad announcements for the 6 Nations. * “CHAMPIONS CUP ROUND 3” Some belting matches. Some less so. The rugby week wrapped up. Plus a bunch of rugby and non rugby twists and turns...obvs. 6. F or The Love of Rugby: England’s most capped men love rugby. Ben Young is a scrum-half so he’s spent most of his 127 games chatting away to team-mates, opposition and referees. His mate Dan Cole is still in the England squad and has cult hero status thanks to his no-nonsense approach to most of life’s events. They’ve spent 20 years together at Leicester Tigers, toured together for the British & Irish Lions and now podcast together every week. They’ll bring you their ultimate guide to rugby’s biggest games, give you a behind the scenes tour of Twickenham and tell you what really happens inside an England camp. They also have guests including some of the biggest names in rugby. 34
