In this special edition of Health is Wealth, I have the honor of interviewing Papá Jaime Jaramillo, a social leader, spiritual teacher, writer, speaker, and peace ambassador. Throughout his life, he has inspired thousands of people through his humanitarian activism and his focus on inner peace. Papá Jaime shares his incredible story and explains how his mission of service has profoundly impacted society. Decoding the Brain and Finding Inner Peace Diana Lion: Thank you, Papá Jaime, for being here and sharing your story with our readers. It’s an honor to have this space with you. I would love for you to tell us a bit about your life, how you started this journey, the challenges you’ve overcome, and how your work has changed so many lives. It would be amazing if you could share the impact of your humanitarian service. Papá Jaime: Of course, Diana. Everything began in 1973, during Christmas—a day that changed my life. I witnessed a little girl lose her life trying to pick up an empty doll box. At that moment, I realized that my mission was to give to others, beyond the material. I started by buying gifts and dressing up as Santa Claus to bring joy to street children, but soon I understood their suffering went beyond poverty. They needed love, peace, and an opportunity to change their lives. That’s how Fundación Niños de los Andes was born, transforming the lives of over 100,000 children. D.L.: What an inspiring story! What have been the biggest challenges you’ve faced in your humanitarian work, and how have you overcome them? My dream has always been for these children to find inner peace. When a person finds peace in their heart, everything changes. They begin to live with joy, and that joy drives them to give their best to others.
P. J.: The greatest challenge has been changing society’s limiting beliefs. At that time, in Colombia, charity was something only priests and nuns did. My approach was different: I didn’t just want to rehabilitate children from drugs but help them find inner peace and purpose. I also faced threats from death squads who didn’t want to see street children given a second chance. On many occasions, neighbors opposed the establishment of homes in their communities. But the biggest challenge was teaching these children that they could change their destinies. My goal has always been for each child who passes through the Foundation to help another, creating a chain of positive impact. A true leader is someone who helps others grow and leave their mark.

for every person to rediscover their purpose in life. When you find your inner peace, it’s impossible not to want to share that peace with the world.
D.L.: How do you envision the future of your humanitarian projects?
P. J.: My long-term vision is to create a city of love, a self- sufficient space where children, the elderly, and people with disabilities can live together, helping one another. Time passes, and the children we helped 50 years ago are now elderly. My dream is for them to continue this chain of love and service, impacting future generations. D.L.: What advice would you give to today’s youth who want to make a difference in the world through social service? P. J.: The change starts within you. The magic of service not only gives meaning to your life but also releases serotonin, helping to combat depression and emotional suffering. I always say that when you serve unconditionally, you stop being part of the problem and become part of the solution. You don’t need to be known worldwide; just helping one person can make a difference. Each life you touch is a universe in itself. Adolescence is a crucial stage, yet today's youth are immersed in consumerism and the immediacy of social media. They seek happiness outside themselves, which is a mistake. True happiness lies within, and the spiritual path isn’t something you can find quickly; it requires work, introspection, and, above all, self-love. My advice is to avoid seeking external validation and instead focus on cultivating your inner peace and finding your life's purpose.
P. J.: From a young age, I felt called to defend those who couldn’t defend themselves. By the time I was 7 years old, I couldn’t stand by when I saw a classmate being bullied. This drive to help others has always been within me. My peace activism comes from the need despite her story. That taught me that when someone finds meaning in their life through service and love, they not only transform their reality but also inspire everyone around them. D.L.: How do you think this focus on inner peace led you to dedicate your life to peace activism? Was there a moment that marked this path for you? D.L.: Is there an experience during your journey that has touched you deeply? P. J.: One story that marked me was Ruth Camargo, a girl who was completely burned. Over the years, we performed more than twenty reconstructive surgeries. Today, Ruth leads a full life, speaks perfect English, and is an example of resilience and gratitude. We met Mother Teresa of Calcutta on one of these trips, and she was amazed by Ruth's joy

D.L.: How important is it to decode our brain with binaural waves? P. J.: It is very important, and that is what I have developed—a cutting-edge technology based on NASA, with which I have been working for these 50 years of failures and successes. I have been designing a methodology called the "Ser Methodology," so that through these wave frequencies, we can reprogram the biocode of DNA, deprogram the subconscious mind, and implant new conscious beliefs in it, liberating, transforming, healing, so that people can truly find meaning in their lives. Because a life without meaning has no significance; live it. D.L.: What is the importance of the Luminary Triangle? P. J.: The importance of the Luminary Triangle, whose foundation is love, is that you love what you do and do what you love. This is gratitude to God and to life. That’s why I always say to value in the moment the small and simple things that God and life give you, because tomorrow it may be too late to see and understand that those small and simple things were the greatest, and perhaps you may have already lost them. The other aspect is the magic of performing acts of love, of serving others unconditionally. When you perform the magic of acts of love, gratitude and love come together, and that is what you attract into your life—you create it, co-create it, manifest it.
D.L.: Can you tell us about your upcoming book? P. J.: My new book is titled “Baila Aunque No Bailes”. In it, I share stories and tools to overcome life’s challenges, find joy in the simplest situations, and turn suffering into opportunities for growth. D.L.: I would like to close with some breathing exercises or a small meditation. P. J.: I would recommend that you go to the website www.papajaime.com, where it says that peace is your priority, with audio to manage your subconscious mind, be happy, and boost your immune system. If you do this for twenty-one consecutive days, those pluripotent stem cells transform into new neurons encoded with that frequency of peace, love, joy, well-being, health, and vitality, and the subconscious gets deprogrammed. But you must continue doing it for another 45 days. In total, 66 days. Because the habit, as you have been told, takes 21 days, but the brain takes 66 days to generate that neural imprint in your mind. That is, exactly 65 days. It’s fabulous.

The Founding and Growth of Othership From Backyard Sauna to Urban Oasis:
1. Who are the founders and what in their lives caused them to have the vision of Othership? There are five of us: me, my wife Emily Bent, and our co-founders and best friends Amanda Laine, Harrison Taylor, and Myles Farmer. We started Othership based on a mutual interest in developing healthier communities. My wife Emily introduced me to the practice of saunas and cold plunges at the beginning of my sobriety journey in 2017. We both found these experiences so impactful that we did it across our travels together for four years, even bringing groups along instead of going to a bar for drinks. Amanda and Harry had also traveled and experienced different sauna techniques as well, and Myles had worked in hospitality for years. emotional well-being and community connection. At the height of the COVID pandemic, the five of us decided to build an ice bath in my backyard in Toronto. Every night, one of us would work and host a guided ice bath with a fire. And every day, you could just come and use it for free. If you knew where it was, you could just let yourself in. There was a neighbourhood Whatsapp group that grew to 300 people. We added a sauna and began to integrate emotional wellness programming and classes. We discovered that the combination of hot and cold immersion acted as a powerful social tool, breaking down barriers and fostering connection. This became the basis for Othership.

2. From vision to opening, how many years/months passed and what were some of the biggest challenges in transitioning from vision to opening? It all happened very quickly. We signed a lease during lockdown and the Adelaide location launched February 2022. Initially, people thought we were nuts, but we knew from the garage how strong the experience was. We knew it would be helpful to people struggling with loneliness and stress, and to help people connect with themselves and one another in new ways. So we took the risk. Expansion happened quickly as well, bringing challenges with it. Building out locations— especially in different regulatory environments— has had a steep learning curve, as has designing and training for our classes. Our goal is making sure they stay authentic and inspire emotional transformation..
5. Where else do you plan on opening locations? We're trying to expand in New York specifically at the moment, and then move on to build opening teams and expand across the Northeast (Boston, Washington, Chicago, and Philadelphia are all on our radar) and then larger markets like Texas, Florida, and California. 6. Is franchising part of the growth plan? Not at the moment. Business priorities over the next year include scaling the team, raising more funding to build out a number of new units in New York, and building an opening team to start opening new markets as well. 7. Other than Canada and the United States, are there other countries you are considering? The plan is really to expand aggressively across the US. We believe that this can work in any city where people are struggling and stressed and will be a great option in all urban environments. We want to create community in other urban environments to make people feel less lonely and to give them a new place to connect.
3. What were/are the target demographics targeted? Othership is a space for all: those who thrive in their busy work life and want to take care of their emotional and physical health, those looking for a community for social well-being, fitness enthusiasts who undergo physical stress and are looking for a place to recover, and all human beings that want to feel better. 4. How many locations currently exist? We currently have three: two thriving locations in Toronto, and our recently-opened Ship in Manhattan’s Flatiron District. We’ve broken ground on a second New York location, which will open in Williamsburg in 2025.
