SUMMER SAVINGS

SOAK UP THE SAVINGS

Make the most of the sunny season with the Government's latest summer savings scheme. Whether you're planning days out, family adventures, or simply looking to stretch your budget a little further, discover easy ways to save more, spend smarter, and enjoy a summer that's kinder to your bank balance

• Targeted cost-of-living relief on everyday goods Alongside savings on days out, some import taxes on selected food items have been reduced. This is designed to help bring down the cost of certain everyday food items over the summer. Who is taking part? Any company can be taking part, big or small, which also means that availability may vary depending on where you live. Some towns and cities will feel the impact more than others if they have a higher number of participating venues/companies. (This applies to local bus services in England. It does not apply in London, where children’s free travel is already in place through TfL, or in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, where travel support is devolved).

The UK Government’s "Great British Summer Savings" scheme temporarily cuts VAT on family activities from 20% to 5% between Thursday 25 June 2026 and Tuesday 1 September 2026. The reduced VAT will apply to the following areas: • Attractions: Theme parks, soft play centres, zoos, museums, fairs, adventure parks, and wildlife parks (for both adults and children). • Entertainment: Children's and family tickets for cinemas, theatres, concerts, shows, and exhibitions. • Dining: Children's meals in participating restaurants. The “Great British Summer Savings” is a temporary, targeted cost-of-living package running over the summer holiday this year. It’s not just one discount card or app. It’s a group of measures aimed at helping families save money during school holidays, when costs are usually higher.

How much could families save?

The scheme focuses on three main areas: • Cheaper days out for families

Government estimates suggest savings such as: • Around £20 on a family theme park visit

This means participating venues can apply reduced pricing automatically at the point of sale, rather than families needing vouchers or codes. So, no hunting around for vouchers or saving all the cereal boxes this year! • Free or reduced cost of travel for children The Government is providing free bus travel for children aged 5 to 15. This summer the local bus services in England will allow children to travel free in August. Whether it’s going on a day out, visiting family or just getting around, the bus is on them!

• Up to £17 on wildlife park tickets • Around £11 on aquarium tickets • Around £9 on circus tickets
