Shared Ownership can be a fantastic stepping stone for people who might otherwise struggle to get on to the property ladder. At L&Q it’s helped so many people make their dreams come true. A recent customer comment that stuck with me was “With Shared Ownership, I was able to buy... there’s no way I could have done that on the open market…I’ve got a goal, and I love it here. It really feels like home.” What are your views on the property market? The property market continues to present challenges, particularly for first time buyers, but there are also opportunities. Schemes such as Shared Ownership, along with increasing awareness of other housing options such as London Living Rent and Rent to Buy, are helping more people take that important first step towards owning a home.

It adds warmth and personality to the space. Which three people would you invite over for a housewarming party if you could have any guests? Malala Yousafzai, because her courage and determination to champion education and equality are truly inspiring. She’s 82, and no celebration would be complete without her amazing cooking, wisdom and company. What’s your favourite memory from your childhood home? My childhood home was in Leicester, in a cul-de-sac of tightly packed terraced houses where we could play outside all day. My fondest memory, though, is sitting around the dining table with my mum and sister on Saturday mornings, enjoying fresh bread we’d just bought from the local market. It was simple, but those moments together are memories I’ll always treasure. What is your favourite song and why? I Wanna Dance with Somebody by Whitney Houston. It’s timeless, uplifting and impossible not to sing along to. Would you rather have a garden or a balcony? Although I’m lucky enough to have a garden, the idea of a balcony is very appealing. It’s low maintenance, can offer fantastic views and creates a cosy outdoor space that’s easy to enjoy throughout the year. Do you prefer modern homes or period properties? Period properties have my heart because of their character and history. That said, I can definitely see the appeal of a modern home that’s ready to move into and requires very little maintenance. 20 QUESTIONS Priti Chohan
