There is no such thing as work-life balance – this is life and balance has to be within us. It is not enough to separate personal life from work life, you cannot flick a switch. Employers must lead by example and take care of people. The balance of power that has historically been in an employer's hand to provide money for a service to fund how you live is moving towards equilibrium. In 1890, the average workweek was 100 hours, 7 days a week with an assumption that it would increase productivity. By 1926, Henry Ford popularised the 5-day working week. By 1933 it was standard.
