REFLECTING ON A YEAR OF GROWTH AND INNOVATION AT ALTA VISTA MIDDLE SCHOOL
As I reflect on the past year at Alta Vista Middle School, I am filled with pride and excitement for the strides we have made in enriching the educational experience for our students. It has been a year marked by innovation, expansion, and a steadfast commitment to preparing students to thrive as creative thinkers, innovators, and catalysts for positive change in the world. We began the year with the introduction of our Humanities Expo, held at the end of the first trimester. This event allowed students to showcase their creativity, critical thinking, and research skills across various disciplines, including English, Social Studies, and Spanish. The Expo fostered a sense of community and collaboration among our school. We added two new Landmark Trip locations. 7th-graders traveled to Monterey, where they explored marine life, ecological systems, and the region’s history. 8th-graders visited Seattle, immersing themselves in the culture, innovation, and iconic landmarks of the Pacific Northwest, including a trip to the Boeing factory where our AVS Aviators learned how planes are made. These trips broadened the horizons of our students and instilled a sense of curiosity and appreciation for the world around them.
