intelligent power management sys- tems, effectively improving energy efficiency by 7-10 percent. TIPC has installed solar equipment at both the 4th and 7th Container Terminals in Kaohsiung Port this year to increase use of green energy. TIPC also con- tinues to construct heavy cargo termin- als in Taichung Port and Kaohsiung Port to prepare for future wind farm development. Furthermore, TIPC launched green port incentive programs this year to encourage shipping companies to util- ize low-carbon fuels and automate handling equipment. And they con- tinue to encourage the usage of shore power, noting that there has been a total of 11 high-voltage shore power berths installed in the ports. Aligned with Taiwan ’ s 2050 Net- Zero policy, TIPC has set a goal to reduce carbon emissions by 50 percent by 2030 and achieve net zero emis- sions by 2050. To reduce carbon emis- sions, this year TIPC has planted over 90,000 trees in our ports. Additionally, TIPC continued to implement carbon footprint verification and achieved a total of 158,000 metric-ton reduction in carbon emissions in 2024. TIPC will continue its efforts to transform all Taiwan ’ s ports into low-carbon and sustainable ports. Last but not least, regarding cruise performance, TIPC forecasts with 603 cruise calls and estimated 1.09 million cruise passengers this year. TIPC is pleased to see the number of passen- gers surpass the pre-pandemic peak. Huang warmly welcomed attendees to visit Taiwan’s ports by cruise in the future. “ We are proud of the progress we ’ ve made in digitalization, sustainabil- ity, and infrastructure, ” Tiger said. “ TIPC is committed to transforming Taiwan ’ s ports into modern, low- carbon, and intelligent maritime gate- ways. ” PP

SBMA is developing housing and dormitory projects near employment zones to reduce commuting time and carbon emissions, in a way, supporting its workforce. Rodriguez also noted the launch of a vessel traffic management sys- tem (VTMS) commissioned last year, enhancing maritime safety and effi- ciency across Subic Bay. “With our expanding port cap- acity, sustainable transport initiatives, and new shipbuilding investments,” Rodriguez said, “Subic Bay is once again becoming a key driver of the Philippines’ maritime and industrial resurgence.” Taiwan International Ports Corporation The Taiwan International Ports Corporation (TIPC) is charting a course toward a more digital, sustain- able, and globally competitive mari- time future after achieving record revenues in 2024. Speaking on behalf of the TIPC, Tiger Huang, Senior Researcher for the Port ’ s Business and Investment Departments, announced that the corporation reached a record- high revenue of USD $840 million last year, marking a milestone in Taiwan ’ s port development and international trade performance. TIPC manages four port branches, including seven international and two
domestic commercial ports, and con- tinues to enhance its role as a key logis- tics and shipping hub in Asia. A major achievement was the full operation of Evergreen ’ s 7th Container Terminal at the Port of Kaohsiung last November. The new terminal can accommodate four of today ’ s largest 24,000-TEU container ships. It also features automated container yard operations and a remote monitor- ing control center with an estimated handling capacity of 6.5 million TEUs annually. Meanwhile, TIPC is also upgrading the 3rd and 5th Container Terminal in the Port of Kaohsiung. These upgrades will allow them to accommodate 18,000 TEU and 24,000 TEU class container vessels, improving oper- ational flexibility and productivity across its port network. TIPC is investing heavily in port digitalization, introducing AI-driven systems for marine weather informa- tion systems, smart vessel navigation warnings, and AI gate recognition. Upcoming innovations will extend to vessel scheduling, port security con- trol and cargo handling operations. To bolster maritime safety, TIPC has implemented AI image recognition technology to monitor unauthorized vessel movements at harbor entrances. For sustainable transformation, TIPC has equipped all ports with
