MARINE TECHNOLOGY MarineLabs receives $4 Million investment to enable coastal AI at scale M arineLabs, a leader in maritime weather intel- ligence technology, has

raised a $4-million seed extension led by BDC Capital’s Sustainability Venture Fund with participation from InBC Investment Corp. (InBC), which invests in growing companies making a positive impact in British Columbia. MarineLabs delivers high-resolution real-time and historical wind, wave, and weather data and AI-driven fore- casts from a North America-wide fleet of cloud-connected, rugged sensors. Harnessing the power of this sensor network, MarineLabs provides coastal weather intelligence that enables mari- time operators to make critical deci- sions with confidence. The new funding will advance expansion of MarineLabs’ sensor net- work and drive go-to-market growth across North America.

MarineLabs Founder and CEO Dr. Scott Beatty

“MarineLabs is proud to be build- ing Canadian-made technology that’s already making maritime operations measurably safer and more efficient across North America,” said Dr. Scott Beatty, Founder and CEO of MarineLabs. “For a single port ter- minal, our AI-powered, hyper-local forecasting can save millions annually by mitigating unnecessary weather- related downtime. MarineLabs fore- casting is more reliable, more accurate, and more integrated into maritime operations. With the support of BDC and InBC, we’re growing our network coverage and entering new markets to deliver even greater impact for the ports, pilots, and terminals that keep our economy moving.” “We are pleased to support the MarineLabs team in the impactful work they’re doing to ensure safety and reliability of our coastlines, and the traffic through them. This aligns with our own mission to invest in the most innovative Canadian companies enabling sustainability in all industries,” said Anamika Mukherjee, Partner, BDC Sustainability Venture Fund. “MarineLabs’ coastal intelligence technology is strengthening maritime

safety, enhancing operations and improving coastal awareness; all of which are critical to mariners in B.C., across Canada and internationally,” shares Evan Machin, Investment Associate at InBC. “InBC’s investment in MarineLabs is supporting the con- tinued growth of a B.C.-based com- pany, with innovation and IP developed here on Vancouver Island, that is globally competitive and transforming the future of maritime operations.” Already active in four of Canada’s five largest ports, MarineLabs is help- ing maritime operators avoid costly and unnecessary downtime, while strengthening safety and climate resili- ence along coastlines. MarineLabs’ flagship product, CoastAware, sets a new benchmark in maritime weather intelligence by com- bining real-time data from its fleet of sensors with advanced data processing. The subscription platform delivers real- time and historical weather intelligence together with hyper-local, AI-powered 10-day forecasts, enabling ports, pilots, and other maritime operators to make more confident decisions, improve efficiency and safety, and minimize environmental impact.
