Chief Executive - BCUSU

Your Purpose • To lead the organisation to achieve its vision and purpose, to challenge for change and deliver a modern forward thinking Student Union. • To work in close partnership with the Trustees/Directors to lead the organisation and staff team, developing and delivering clear strategies. • To develop and maintain positive relationships with the University and other part- ners in the City and nationally. Job Description The Job • To be the active leader of the BCUSU senior management and whole staff team; work - ing together to develop strategies, policies and procedures for BCUSU. • To co-ordinate the management of BCUSU services, in line with the mission, vision and core values; to also be the conduit for information between staff and Trustees/Direc - tors, and vice versa. • To take steps which ensure the future sustainability of BCUSU • Ensuring solid financial planning, reporting and monitoring procedures are operating. • Ensuring the Union’s aspirations to reduce our environmental impact are delivered • Ensuring practices exist which protect the physical assets of the Union. • To ensure that the affairs of BCUSU are conducted in accordance with all legal require - ments and the policies determined by theTrustees, Directors, Executive and Student Council. • To be the Company Secretary for BCUSU and all subsidiary companies. • To be familiar with the constitution and poli cy of BCUSU and assist the relevant of- ficers in ensuring the Constitution is followed at all times. • To maintain an active awareness in the general and wider trends and developments in all areas of Students’ Union

The Future • To develop and implement strategies for the Union

• To lead the strategic planning process, ensuring Trustees/Direc- tors aspirations are at the forefront and key stakeholders involved. • To ensure that detailed plans are prepared and implemented which assist the BCUSU in achieving its mission, across all areas. • To advise both officers and managers in respect of all personnel related policies, procedures and issues. • To ensure that decisions made by BCUSU committees are commu- nicated to staff and implemented.
