It s often true that the best praying is done in secret. If we’re too busy to pray, we’re busier than God in­ tended us to be. Christians need to retire from everyone and spend time alone with God. You cannot be effec­ tive and produce fruitfully for eter­ nity without praying. Our heavenly Father knows what we have need of. Vain repetition doesn’t make for ef­ fective praying. God hears and an­ swers prayer! (Matt. 7:7-11).Happy is the believer who prays in the con­ fidence that God is adequate for every need of his own individual life. We can rest securely in the fact that the great Shepherd of the sheep has promised to supply all our needs. The secret place of prayer, the private closet, ought not to be a strange place to any one of us. Here is where we can meet with God. While it may be a small room, God can transform it into a great temple of blessing throughout all of life. C hapter S ixteen T here is a real need today for born- again Christians to live all out for the Lord. In such difficult times as these our faith- in Him must be desperately strong. Our strength and vitality for service come through the quiet place, as each day we meet with the Saviour. There’s no greater need than to be trained in the things of our Lord Jesus Christ. II Timothy 2:15-18 reminds us of our responsi­ bility. We should be enthusiastic and desirous of propagating the truth of God’s Word. The way the cults go about it with such zeal should put us to shame. We urgently need such training that we might better serve the Saviour. For too many people the study of the Bible is an unknown art. There­ by they’re unable adequately to de­ fine their Christian faith in the pres­ ence of unbelievers. The study of the Bible calls for diligence. There’s no short-cut to a well-balanced knowl-
