find himself In a hopeless impasse, but God will not fail.—The Voice. 8. Omnipresence “The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and' his ears are open unto their cry” (Psa. 34:15). I do hot always bend the knee to pray, I sometimes pray in crowded city street. In some hard crisis of a busy day, Prayer is my sure, my comforting retreat. Dear Lord, Thy help! My lips cry si lently. From swiftly speeding car my prayer ascends; Heaven is not far, but near to me. And ever from His throne my Father bends. Here at my daily task I need His aid; No matter where I am I-crave His care. In moments when my soul is most afraid, It comforts me to know that He is there.—Power. Obedient Hearts "I have inclined mine heart to per form thy statutes always” (Psa. 119:112). Compromise has a way of chilling our souls, hardening our hearts, and dulling our spiritual perceptions, un til it often takes a shock of some kind to awaken us. So it was with Mordecai; his conscience had been dulled by the opiate of his good for tune, until . . . he was shocked back to consciousness. Then he perceived the truth of his spiritual condition. It would be proper for all believers to pray that God would keep their hearts so tender and obedient that any compromise, with its inevitable dread ful results, would be avoided. —Clifford H. Erickson. The Fruitful Life “He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit” (John 15:5). " Y e are complete in him” (Col. ?:10). Soon the spring will again burst upon us. Then the trees which look dead now, will spring into new life. The bud, leaf, flower, and eventually the fruit will appear. It is a* miracu lous performance, but one which comes noiselessly and easily. All that the fruit-bearing branches do is just to abide. The life then flows from the tree to the branches, and they be come the instrumentality of life and nourishment to a needy world. —Alliance Weekly. 9. 1th

11. Appointed to Testify “I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Be strong and of a good courage” (Josh. 1:5, 6 ). “Thou art the mem” (2 Sam. 12:7). The religion of both Old and New Testament is marked by fervent out; spoken testimonies against evil. Tb speak smooth things in sucli a .case may be sentimentalism, but it is not Christianity. It is a betrayal of the cause of truth and righteousness. If any one should be frank, manly, hon est, cheerful (I do not say blunt or rude, for a Christian must be courte ous and polite), it is he who has tast ed that the Lord is gracious, and is looking for and hastening unto the coming of the day of God. —Horatius Bonar. 12. Joy's Foundation “Thou will Keep him in perfect, peace, whose mind is stayed on thee” (Isa. 26:3). We cannot always rejoice in our circumstances and conditions. But if savingly united to Christ by the blood of His cross, then, with such ground of assurance, we can assuredly “Re joice in the Lord.” Are we among the number? Butin all this there may be nothing of ecstatic joy, only a quiet, restful assurance that all is well. —Gertrude Cockrell. 13. Remember ' “Hitherto hath the Lord helped us” (1 Sam. 7:12).

“ Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to-day, and for ever” (Heb. 13:8). O thou of little faith, God has not failed thee yet! When all looks dark and gloomy, Thou dost so soon forget— Forget that He has led thee, . And gently cleared thy way; On clouds has poured IJis sunshine,, And turned thy night to day. And if He’s helped thee hitherto He will not 'ail thee now. How it must wound His loving heart To see thy anxious brow! Oh, doubt not any longer, To Him commit thy way: Whom in the past thou trusted, And is the same today. Constant Cleansing “The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin” (1 John 1:7). . The cleasing of the soul itself is included in the good work of grace. The Holy Spirit goes down into the deep places of life, and there applies the power pf the death of Christ. Our thoughts are purified, our desires are ennobled, our affections are set on things above, our wills are directed toward a single intention, our hopes are fixed on God, and evil passions are stricken into impotence. T h i s cleansing is a life-process and an un deviating experience. Moment by mo ment, year after year, until set of sun, the blood of Jesus cleanseth. —Christ the Life. —Author Unknown. 14
