by the bread and grape juice which are served at the Lord’s Supper. How glad we should be that Christ left a remembrance of this kind, tell ing of His death, rather than a picture which would have revealed the shape of His face. When the Lord’s Supper is served, we should never forget that it is in remembrance of Him and of His death for us.

The bread did not remind them of all that He wanted them to remember, so He took a glass of grape juice, and said it was like His blood which would cleanse from sin. Before Christ died, godly people had brought lambs to the altars, to be killed, and the death of these animals was a type of the death of Christ. Now that Christ has died, Christians are reminded of His death

ren of Israel, they prepared a feast. The father killed a lamb that was per fect and brushed the blood across the door posts. Then he prepared the lamb for eating, and he and his family were dressed and ready to start on the jour ney of deliverance. They were safe, for they had followed God’s plan and they were trusting in the blood of the lamb for deliverance. c And now the Lord Jesus, God’s Lamb of sacrifice, was about to shed His blood for the deliverance of all people who should believe on His name. Jesus tried to explain this to His disciples. He sat down with them to eat. He took bread and broke it and said, after He had blessed it, “Take, eat; this is my body.” Then He took a cup and did the same, saying that this repre sented His blood, shed to send away sins. He was telling them that just as He was breaking this bread and pouring out the drink, so His body and blood were given for them. He told them that they were to do this same thing often among themselves as a remembrance of what He had done for them. They were to do it, Jesus said, until He should come. We call this “The Lord’s Supper,” and followers of the Lord Jesus all over the world remember Him in this way.

OBJECTS: A kodak album filled with pictures. LESSON: This kodak album is filled with pictures! Why do people keep pic tures ? “In order to remember their friends and relatives.” Yes, you are right. When friends are leaving, they often give pictures to help us remember them. When Christ was preparing to leave this world to go back to heaven, He wanted to leave something with His followers to remind them of Him. There was no way of taking pictures in those days; and besides, Christ wanted His disciples to remember His death, rather than how His face looked. People would not be saved by seeing an exact picture of Christ, but they are saved by know ing about and accepting His sacrificial death on the cross. Christ took bread which had been ground in the mill and baked in the oven, and breaking it said, “This is my body»”
