In thinking about the crucifixion of Christ, we should remember that Jesus said, “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me” (John 12:32). When people feel the drawing power of Christ, they should allow themselves to be cut loose from the world and should follow Him. With these scissors I -Will cut the black elas tic of sin which is pulling the “I” to ward the world. - The ‘.‘I” is now free to go to the cross. This is what happens to a person when he comes to Christ. (Remove the folded cardboard from the back of the cross. Unfold it and allow il; to cover the black “I.” This cardboard being a little larger than the black “I,” a margin of red will show when the wooden “I” is turned around.) Look at what happens—the blood of Christ covers all sin. As I turn the “I” around, you will see that the back is white, reminding us tHat the soul that is cleansed by the blood of Christ is white in the sight of God. Don’t be foolish enough to allow the pull of the world to keep you f^om Christ. Accept Him as your Saviour,, and His blood will cleanse you from all sin. 28:1 In- the end of tbe sabbath, as It began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. 2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord de scended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. 3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: 4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. 5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, .Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. 6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. LESSON TEXT : Matt. 27:57 to 28:6. GOLDEN TEXT : «But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept” (1 Cor. 15:20). DEVOTIONAL READING: 1 Cor. 15:20- 28. Outline and Exposition I. T he T estimony of F aith (57-61) OSEPH of A r i m a t h e a gave evidence of the faith that was in him when he had the boldness to ask the body of our Lord from Pilate, in order to accord it decent burial. He was not afraid in the presence of the influential leaders of the nation al though he might well have been. Joseph was also a man of humility. He had not been honored as some of the disciples had been; he was not of that inner circle that companied with Jesus. So far as the record goes, we know nothing of him except what we are told here—that he was a rich man and that he was a disciple. We should mark well the fact demonstrated here,

veneer “I,” made of stiff red paper; a piece of black elastic twelve inches long; a piece of white elastic, and a pair of scissors. (Fasten the globe at one end of a board and the cross at the opposite end. Attach the black elastic to the globe and one side of the wooden “I.” Fasten the white elastic to the opposite side of the “I” and the cross. Fold the cardboard “I” about three inches from the top, and a sufficient distance from the bottom to cause the top and bottom to overlap, making a cross. Thumb tack to the back of the red veneer cross.) LESSON: Look at this-poor “1” as it stands between the ¿yorld and the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is pulled by both, as all unsaved people are. MATTHEW 27:57 When tjie even was come, there came a rich man of Arima- thea. named Jofeeph, who also himself was Jesus’ disciple: 58 He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. 59 And when Joseph had taken* the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 60 And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the Sepulchre, and departed.' 61 And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre. 6-8 Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees cakne together unto Pilate, 63 Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again. 64 Command therefore that the sepul chre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first. 65 Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watcht go your way, make it as sure as ye can. 66 So they went, and made the sepul chre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.
