28. Seeking God “O God, thou are my God; early will I seek thee” (Psa. 63:1). There may be good hours when it is no special burden of perplexity or pain that sends me to God’s presence. . . . But what of the many days when I feel no impulse that draws hie toward God? Let me keep with sacred faithfulness the time of prayer. Day by day there are mercies for which I ought to thank Him, sins for which I need His forgive ness, plans and purposes that I must bring before Him, and friends whose needs I must commend to Him. —Francis B. James. 29. Victory in Service “Ye also helping together by p ra y » for us” (2 Cor. 1:11). The real victory in all service is won in secret beforehand by prayer. Service is gathering up the results. —S. D. Gordon.

DEVOTIONAL READINGS [ Continued from Page 58]

Dear M r. Fuller: I am a bachelor, ten miles from any neighbors and many miles from church. I gave my heart to God last spring after fifty years of living without Him, and I am so happyl I am certainly thankful that the radio brought the gospel right into my lonely cabin and as a result my soul is saved for all eternity. 1. Cleansing through confession (1:9; 2:2). 2. Obedience (2:3-6). 3. Brotherly love (2:7-11). 4. Hatred of the world (1. a, that “world-system” that is opposed to God—2:12-17). 6 . II. ISSUES OF FELLOWSHIP— Chapters 3 to 3. 1 . Sonship—its blessings (3 :1 - 12 ). 2. Assurance (3:18-24). 3. Spiritual discernment (4:1-6). Remember the words of the Lord found in John 15:7: “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be dose unto you.” Shall we not all pray, in faith, for a great revival? 4. Life perfected (4:7-21). 5. Answered prayer (ch. 5). WESTERN BOOK AND TRACT COMPANY, (Oakland’s Leading Bible House), 1719 Franklin St., Oakland, Calif., Dr. H. A. Ironside, Presi dent. seek grace to rise above minor obses sions, and to estimate the prospect from the point of view of the throne. It will restore calmness to our over burdened and apprehensive imagina tions, in a restored sense of perspective. —Life of Faith. 26. The Power of His Resurrection “That I may know . . . the power of his resurrection” (Phil. 3:10). The old man of sin persistently as serts itself in the holiest of men and the workings of the evil one are not foreign to any of God’s children. We need power to subdue the desires and passions that lead us away from God. . . . We should thank God that a daily fellowship with Him effects in us the working of the power of His resurrec tion.—H. Baker. 27. Our Responsibility “Incline my heart unto thy testi monies” (Psa. 119:36). It sounds foolish to say that if you would have a knowledge of languages, or chemistry, or astronomy, or medicine, you must study these things, yet there are people, and good people, who imagine they can obtain a knowledge of the Bible without studying it. . . . They turn over to the Spirit the duty of their own mind, but the Spirit can no more do your mind’s work that your mind can do the Spirit’s work. . —W. Graham Scroggie.

Spirit gives us five conditions of fellow ship. Read them, study them, pray over them. As each obedient individual comes closer, the entire body of Christ will come closer, and revival fires and fervor will sweep over the land. I.
