Belinah Matshele Maserumule

She served as a volunteering champion at the University of Johannesburg in community engagement initiatives to help eradicate poverty and discrimination and so improve the lives of the less privileged. Belinah, who holds a BA in Psychology and Communications, was also a peer educator at the university and assisted students in getting tested for HIV/Aids, tuberculosis and sexually transmitted infections, and she taught sexual education. She also received recognition from UJ for her outstanding work. Belinah started the Injabulo Foundation, which aims to assist children in orphanages. She has used her platform as a wellness professional to shape the future of South Africa by helping troubled employees and being involved in special programmes, such as Empower a Girl Child and Men in the Making. A challenge she had to deal with was working with people from different backgrounds and cultures and realising that she needs to familiarise herself with these. Qualifications • BA Psychology & Communications • Project management • Report Writing Achievements I have been involved with various projects, one of them being volunteering in orphanages and we managed to donate non-perishable food for underprivileged children. Even to this day in the department I work for, we have a project called Empower a girl child and Empower a boy child. We donated sanitary towels and we also have programmes that assist them with empowering their social life by providing departmental bursaries, internships and job applications. We also invite the human resources section to educate them about the processes of applications, shortlisting and selection. We also do a follow up on the progress of the learners as I believe in nurturing the seed. Mentors My mother is my biggest role model and cheerleader because she believes in me, more than I believe in myself.
