Revolutionise Your Actuarial Journey with UJ’s Actuarial Science Programme and AIM!*

An actuary is a business professional who uses analytical skills to solve long-term business and societal problems. At the University of Johannesburg, we do not only teach Actuarial Science – we transform it. As an Actuarial Science student at UJ, you’ll gain access to award-winning student support initiatives run by the ASABA UJ Chapter as well as exclusive leadership training and the Actuaries In the Making (AIM) virtual vacation work programme. The creation of these groundbreaking initiatives is an example of what sets us apart from other universities. AIM is the first entirely virtual nationwide experiential learning programme designed specifically for actuarial students, providing unmatched flexibility and inclusivity. Here’s what makes AIM and UJ unique: AIM offers an entirely virtual learning environment accessible to students across South Africa – and beyond. With opportunities extending to other parts of Africa and elsewhere, AIM is truly global. Founded by three visionary actuaries committed to transforming the profession, AIM emphasizes inclusivity, agility, and diversity, fostering a new generation of

actuaries ready to make a difference. With over 80 supervising actuaries – Business Owners – dedicated to guiding the next wave of professionals, AIM ensures that students receive valuable, hands-on experience beyond the classroom. Since its inception in 2022, AIM has provided over 350 vacation work opportunities. AIM is a model of success and innovation with a 99% student recommendation rate and over 90% of Business Owners eager to participate again. AIM isn’t just an internship – it’s a movement that has inspired research into experiential learning and garnered international recognition. When you join UJ, you join a community shaping the actuarial profession’s future. Join UJ’s Actuarial Science Program Today!
