He is the head of investment banking ventures in the investment banking global division of Standard Bank. His mandate is to evolve the investment banking client value propositions through corporate venturing, digital innovation, strategic investments and building new business products and services. His function involves executive, administrative, strategic, operational and business development responsibilities. He is currently driving product and service developments in the investment banking division, which includes servicing clients through modernised interactions enabled by tools such as AI, digital assets and data insights. He believes that companies will benefit from the transformation of investment banking into a more data-driven sector offering products and services. Kevin is also the co-founder and former team member of a digital platform business called PowerPulse, which assists corporate and industrial companies in their solar installation procurement requirements. This solution was awarded the CIB Mark of Excellence award in March 2023 for being the most progressive innovative project with record-breaking progress in less than a year.
Achievements I am the co-founder and former team member of a digital platform business called PowerPulse, which assists corporate and industrial companies in their solar installation procurement requirements. The platform offers an automated solar PV feasibility assessment and matches clients to vetted solar PV installation providers. This solution was awarded the CIB Mark of Excellence award in March 2023 for being the most progressive innovative project with record-breaking progress in less than a year, considering the impact of the COVID-19 work environment and market challenges. The platform was in the top nine finalists out of 300 global entries in the international Gartner Eye on Innovation in Financial Services awards, which was showcased in Barcelona Spain in 2022 and was the 2022 Energy Innovator of the Year in the South African Energy Efficiency Confederation awards; and the 2023 Energy Innovator of the Year in the Sub- Saharan Africa Region category for the Association of Energy Engineers awards. A lesson that I learnt is that innovation requires resilience and a passion for driving change. The solution contributes to society at large through the benefits of solar for business growth and job creation. Solving problems and challenges in the business context has the potential to transform communities through sustainable impact. Mentors Steve Jobs has been a great inspiration to me on how to think differently and to be deliberate about being impactful. I am also fortunate enough to have received mentorship and role modelling from other people who have supported me in various ways.
