KEY FACTS ABOUT LAGAN COLLEGE
* Lagan College is an integrated, all ability school. We cater for students of all abilities including, the most academically able. Analysis of the GCSE results of students designated as higher ability show they equal the best in grammar schools. * We have high expectations for all our students in all aspects of school life. Mentoring and target setting programmes are in operation to enable every student to achieve his/her full potential. * In 2022, students sat a range of 45 subjects and 100% achieved 5-10 GCSE passes. 97% achieved 5-10 passes with A*-C grades. * In 2022, Lagan College achieved very good A Level results, in a range of 25 subjects. Our overall pass rate was 93% for three A Levels with 80% achieving 3 A* to C grades. * Lagan College’s building programme was completed on the 17th June 2013. Our accommodation comprises of a Fitness Suite, Sixth Form Centre, specialist accommodation for ICT, Art and Music, general classrooms, 3 dining areas, a new library and a Chaplaincy and Wellbeing Centre at the social heart of the school. * Lagan College was inspected in March 2019 and deemed to be a “good” school in all categories by the ETI. * Lagan College holds 3 NAACE ICT Accreditation Awards in recognition of its high standards of Technology and ICT work. * In March 2002, Lagan College was presented with the Cross of Nails by the International Ministry of Reconciliation of Coventry Cathedral. This is in recognition of our ongoing contribution to peace and community relations since 1981. * We place great importance on pastoral care and wellbeing and the work of our Anti-Bullying student leaders. * A parents’ meeting is organised for each year group (two for Years 8, 10, 11 and 12) so that parents are fully involved in the progress of their child. * Over half of our students participate regularly in a wide variety of extra-curricular sports at the College, both at competitive level and for enjoyment. * In 2020 we achieved the Rights Respecting School Award and are working towards the Carnegie Centre for Excellence - Mental Health Award. * Our school building is fully WiFi equipped with interactive whiteboards, iPads, AppleTV, Recording Studio, Green Room, 2 iMac suites and 9 C2K suites. * Approximately 85% of our Sixth Form students proceed to third level education,including Oxbridge entrance. * Lagan College holds the Young Enterprise Centre of Excellence Award, and the British Council International School Award.
* Lagan College holds 5 Eco School Green Flag Awards and has been a UK Eco Ambassador School. * Lagan College achieved a Highly Commended ICT Award by Capita and tha Education Authority in 2022. * Our Chaplaincy and Wellbeing Centre is situated at the heart of the school and is opening in 2023.
