The Daily Rev - Historic Festival 42

S

Welcome to Historic Festival 42! I want to personally welcome you to Lime Rock Park’s Historic Festival. I’m as much a fan of the vintage car world as you, and I can assure you, 2024’s Festival is going to be spectacular. We are introducing a new race group to the festival this year. World Challenge was a very popular class at Lime Rock Park in the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s, featuring the showroom stock cars that were available at the time. Always a big hit with Lime Rock fans with multiple manufacturers winning and the star drivers of the future. We are introducing this class in an effort to make our event more affordable, and to showcase some of our younger drivers. World Challenge cars are readily available, relatively inexpensive and often owned by the drivers who ran them 25 years ago. We have at least 5 cars running that have won World Challenge races; four of them took victory right here at Lime Rock. And that doesn’t include the four drivers who won World Challenge at Lime Rock, all returning this weekend. Peter Cunningham, the most successful World Challenge driver ever, who won 14 Championships, is racing one of his winning cars. Have you ever seen that in Vintage Racing? The Formula Junior field is very strong, and there is a resurgence of cars in the Wings & Slicks group. Both should make for some great racing. You’ll enjoy walking through the paddock this weekend. Our Honored Collector, Ross Myers, benefactor of the 3 Dog Garage Museum in Boyertown, Pa. is bringing a huge exhibition. The exhibition consists largely of Ford Powered cars, our Honored Marque at HF42. There will also be eight unique Ford classes in the Concours on Sunday. We have two great exhibitions for Sunday in the Park. One is our traditional Concours on the Sam Posey Straight with 24 of classes and approximately 185 total number of cars. On the rest of the track, we will have our Gathering of the Marques featuring Car Club exhibitions. We will have more than 20 car clubs participating, bringing at least 700 cars. What the Historic Festival at LRP always means is no matter where you look – paddock, track, pit lane, even our fan parking areas – you can expect to see some of the best examples that the vintage racing and collector car world has to offer. Thank you for coming. Sincerely yours,
