good stage of life and he loved giving back to the community. Regarding issues, he picked a few top ones, the first being taxes. He said he would like to communicate with township residents about why certain decisions are made. “If elected, I would need to hear from residents—so I’m representing them, not the other way around. That’s democracy.” He also said it is important to give people opportunities beforehand to know about issues and for councilors to do necessary research on issues. Regarding development he said, “Do you want taxes to go down or amenities? The community must decide what it wants to become. Strategic planning must be com- mensuratewithwhat the populationwants.” Anthony is a certified operational risk management professional and studied at the Sprott School of Business. Regarding the waste facility proposals which came up just after the last municipal election, he said, “I’ve never seen a com- munity coalesce like it did with Dump the Dump Now. Councilors have a fiduciary re- sponsibility to represent constituents, and they spoke loud and clear on this one— 5000 names on a petition.” Another issue which is sure to come up is his close friendship with Mayor J.P. St. Pierre, who is running for mayor again. “J.P. and I are friends, but we’re not always going to agree. I will vote for what the residents want—I wouldn’t represent the council or the mayor.”
