Police warn to be an investigator for one of the national chartered banks or credit unions. The victim is asked to help with an alleged “theft inves- tigation” by withdrawing money that would be used as evidence to charge suspected crooked bank employees. The “bank inspector” takes the money the victim withdraws from his or her account and tells the victim to then go home and wait for a phone call that would confirm the money was re-deposited to the account. The phone call never happens.
