Legacy of giving core to College – CCOBA President Angus Dysart-Paul

F ew Old Boys, I suspect, will recall hearing the word “philanthropy” during their years at College. Yet the spirit of giving– the true mark of philanthropy– is fundamental to an education at Christ’s College. It is fundamental to the school’s history and its mission. It also lies at the heart of the Christ’s College Old Boys’

Association’s purpose. Many of the stories in this magazine record the

contributions that Old Boys have made to College over its history. The school was established because of the wisdom and generosity of its founders, who recognised that their contribution

Committee members, those who help organise reunions and revive old friendships, as well as those who connect new Old Boys and help young graduates find opportunities. And lastly, I also recognise those who have helped survivors of abuse at College over the past two years. Through the gifting of time and resources, the alumni community has helped to promote the wellbeing, experiences, and interests of the College and its Old Boys. Philanthropy has many forms. I hope that the spirit of giving remains alive in years to come at College and within our Old Boys’ Association.

would help educate young men and improve the future of society. These stories are a testament that a legacy of giving continues today. The tradition of the school’s founders lives on. Old Boys all around the world have contributed to College’s appeals and projects. Their generosity has enriched the student experience at College for future generations. Other Old Boys have given their time to mentor and coach current students and members of the wider community. I also acknowledge the contribution of many Old Boys whose quiet and sometimes hidden generosity to their former school and its Old Boys goes largely unnoticed.
