Who were your favourite teachers? Tom: Graeme Worner (Biology), Graeme Swanson (Biology)
Michael: Graeme Worner (Biology), John Harwood (Chemistry), Chris Hill (Physics) Jack: My best teacher was Graeme Worner, who taught Biology but retired in 2015. Another of my favourite teachers was English teacher Chris Rayward. Fraser: Michael O’Brien (English), Graeme Worner (Biology) more complex understanding of topics. I was never pushed towards medicine as a career. Through positive interactions, and my intrigue being fostered by my Science teachers, it became the best fit for my classes at school. Jack: Graeme Worner potentially influenced my decision to do medicine due to his passion and curiosity about Science in general. I remember he would sometimes read us interesting articles from scientific journals. That kind of curiosity into why things work the way that they do and keeping up- to-date with scientific advances may have played a role. Fraser: They did not. I actually think that the school did a good job of encouraging us to keep our options open.

Anthony: Personally, I liked all of my teachers! Couldn’t pick any favourites. much larger-scale concepts such as energy utilisation really drove a passion for the life sciences. Anthony: A big part of choosing medicine for me was my interest in Science, and the teachers at College certainly furthered this interest. Speaking to other College Old Boys and hearing about their experiences in medicine also played a part. Michael: My teachers often taught more than just the syllabus, especially Graeme Worner. They provided opportunities to expand my knowledge and explore different concepts. Examples such as CRISPR and diabetes in Biology proved directly useful for first- year papers. I am grateful for these teachers’ ability to capture my interest and encourage a

Did your teachers/College influence your decision to study medicine? Tom: Not necessarily. I have
always been interested in Science and studying medicine seemed like an exciting and versatile career path that would both be challenging and rewarding. Will: I think that College teachers encouraged support for anything that students expressed interest in, which, in my case, happened to be Sciences and History. This definitely made me more confident in taking on an area like medicine, which requires a healthy desire to continue learning. Luke: I was fairly driven towards medicine before starting at College, although if anyone strengthened this decision it was Graeme Worner. His colourful explanations on topics ranging from the microscopic cell cycle to
