Jack: I like to think that I’m already helping people on a daily basis. One of the things I’ve tried to do is make sure patients understand why they are in hospital and what the outstanding problems are stopping them from going home. Often we race past on the ward round and the patients have no idea what’s going on. Fraser: By being a doctor. Wong She and Mr Poole, both were extremely hard-working, very successful but were humble about their achievements. They placed the patient’s care and safety first in every decision, and had good attitudes towards the difficulty of surgery. I am also pushed by my peers somewhat competitively to be the best at my level. In particular, two surgeons, Mr

Who inspires you, generally? Tom: My parents were key advocates for me and my brother to follow whatever path we

wanted to, as long as we applied ourselves. The lack of parental pressure to pursue a professional programme and the continual support has made my study pathway far less stressful. Both Nicky and Rob are amazing role models who always have and will continue to inspire me throughout my career and life. Will: I think my Mum inspires me. She still works much harder than me every day and manages to get far more done with most of her free time. I also get lots of inspiration from my friends.
