Lesson Story: The time came when Jesus should die. His disciples were fear ful. They hadn’t understood that He was going away like this, that He was to die and be buried, just as had happened to people from the beginning o f the world. They had hoped that Jesus would stay with them forever. He had talked to them about putting an end to death. Hadn’t He said: “Because I live, ye shall live also” ? But the time came, and Jesus died. He died on the cross. He was buried, and His disciples were very unhappy as they thought about His death. Then a most wonderful thing happened. His friends went to weep at Jesus’ tomb, and what did they find? The stone was rolled away; the body was gone! Quickly they wondered whether His enemies had stolen it. But no, a voice spoke. They turned, and there stood Jesus Himself. He had come back to assure His disciples that He was about to do as He had promised. He was not dead; He was alive. And be cause He lived, they should live also. And He was on His way to heaven to prepare a place there for those who believe on His name.
