When the home crumbles every worthy institution crum­ bles with it, for the home is the basic unit of all society. The Bible indicates its importance and demonstrates God’s will for those who plan marriage and the establishment of a new home. STUDY QUESTIONS 1. What is the standard by which men should build their homes? (Deut. 12:28.) 2. How does the fifth commandment protect the sacredness and the harmony of the home? (Ex. 20:12.) 3. How does the seventh commandment protect the sanctity of the home? (Ex. 20:14.) 4. How does the ninth commandment protect the sanctity of the home? (Ex. 20:17.) 5. What must be the attitude of each young person toward the Lord and His will if he is to know the mind of God in the choice of his life partner? (Prov. 3:5,6.) 6. Is any person capable of making his own choice in this important matter or any other matter? (Prov. 3:5.) 7. What does it mean to “ acknowledge Him” in all our ways? (Prov. 3:6.)

The Christian ought to be concerned about the same thing. The Bible makes crystal clear what kind of a person the believer ought to marry. The Bible also makes clear the conduct of the believer during courtship and also during marriage. The Bible is the most practical book in the world and no person goes wrong by read­ 1. Who performed the first marriage? (Gen. 2:21-24.) What does this teach us? 2. Where did the Saviour perform His first miracle? (John 2:1-11.) What does this fact teach us? 3. How do we know that the young couple to be married in John 2:1-11 were very wise young people? (cp. v. 2.) Be sure to invite Jesus to your wedding. 4. What is the teaching of Mark 10:6- 9? Why does God intend that every mar­ riage be permanent? List the reasons and discuss them. 5. What is the only ground upon which a divorce may be granted? (Matt. 19:9.) 6. How is this wonderful characteristic manifest in our Lord’s life? (John 13:1.) 3. How is the great mark of friendship evidenced by God the Father? (John 3:- 16.) 4. What is meant by the last statement of Prov. 17:17? 5. What “ adversity” were you in when the Lord Jesus befriended you? (Rom. 3:- 23; 5:6-10.) Note the titles given us when we were without Christ.
