The day school opened Sept. 19th, Begis- tratio n Day, classes beginning on the 21st. A large enrollment is anticipated, about 210 new students having been accepted be­ fore the registration day. Miss A lberta Patterson, who was for ten years P rincipal of the Bible School a t Borne, Georgia, has tak en up her du­ ties as Superintendent of Women. Miss P atterson is a graduate of Wooster Col­ lege, Ohio and of the Moody In stitu te, Chicago, and has had large experience in Christian work. | Miss Emily B. Messenger, for some time connected w ith the A frica In land M is­ sion, is acting as A ssistant to the Super­ intendent of Women. Mr. and Mrs. P ranklin Huling, th e la tte r having acted as Superintendent of Women fo r two years, have le ft for Louisville, Kentucky, where Mr. Huling will tak e a sem inary course. estingly of her voyage to India. She says of her work: “ Champa has a leper asylum w ith about fou r hundred inmates and they are planning to build it larger. As it is they tu rn some of them away every day. The lepers themselves are w illing to double up any way to tak e th eir un­ fo rtun ate fellowsufferers in. They have a leper church and they are supporting two lepers. You can be sure they do not even have the barest necessities themselves. They surely pu t me to shame. A lthough there are many things th a t I th ink th a t I must have, when I look a t th e Chris­ tians on the Compound I am ashamed. Of course most of them live b etter than they ever did in th e village where they came from. Miss Lehman, the nurse who came w ith me, and I will likely be left alone a t the station for two and a half months, as the worker on th e field has a furlough long overdue and he is not w ait­ ing any longer on reinforcements b u t goes home the la tte r p a rt of September. One of the other workers is expected back from furlough in December. So we must needs keep the work going till they come. Ju st how it will be done, I do not know, but the Lord will help there too. ’’
