THE B IBLE PURGATORY A Christian worker in speaking w ith a Roman Catholic introduced the facts of the two destinies. “ Y es,’’ said he, “ it is certain th a t all must go either to heaven, hell, or purga­ to ry .’’ “ N ow ,’’ said the worker, “ don’t go too fast. The only Book in the world th a t speaks w ith authority about heaven and hell says nothing about purgatory as a ‘place,’ bu t it does speak clearly and em­ phatically of a purgative, i.e., th a t which purges or cleanses.’’ Then was given the precious verse in Hebrews 1: “ When He (Christ) had by H imself purged our sins, sat down on the rig h t hand of th e M ajesty o n .h ig h ;” and such verses as: “ The Blood of Jesus Christ H is Son cleanseth us from all sin ” (1 John 1), to which he gave reverent at-, tention. There is b u t one purgative, and th a t is the precious Blood of Christ, and only one place to be purged, or cleansed from the filthiness of your sins, and th a t is on this side of d e a th ’s dark waters.
