SIDELINE SPORTS LIVE MUSIC COMING TO NEVILLE ARENA - Auburn University and Peachtree Entertainment have entered into a multi-year partnership to bring major live music experiences to Neville Arena and Jordan-Hare Stadium. This landmark collaboration will deliver more than five multi-genre concerts annually, further establishing Auburn’s position as a premier destination for live entertainment in the Southeast. Concert announcements are expected to begin this fall, with the first performances scheduled for 2026. The matchup between the Owls and Miners will be broadcast live on ESPNU. Tech at 7:00 p.m. | Luau Lounge MONTANA FOUTS LEADS TEAM TO AUSL TITLE - Alabama alum and four-time All American Montana Fouts threw a complete game shutout at Rhoads Stadium in Tuscaloosa to clinch the inaugural Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) Championship for the Talons over the Bandits in a best-of-three series. Fouts struck out seven in a 1-0 win on the final day. The championship series was played in front of a sellout crowd at Alabama’s Rhoads Stadium, marking Fouts’ first return to the field she called home from 2019-23 as a four time All-American with the Crimson Tide. During her time at the Captsone, Fouts earned 100 career wins in the circle while helping lead Alabama to a 2019 SEC regular season title, a 2021 SEC Tournament title and three Women’s College World Series appearances. She was named the 2019 SEC Freshman of the Year, 2021 SEC and NFCA Pitcher of the Year and the 2023 Softball America Pitcher of the Year. In 2023, she became the first Alabama softball athlete to win the Honda Sport Award. AU BASEBALL EARNS ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AWARD - Led by head coach Butch Thompson, Auburn baseball has been named a recipient of the American Baseball Coaches Association’s 2024-25 Team Academic Excellence Award. It marks the second straight season Auburn has earned the recognition, and the Tigers are one of 10 Southeastern Conference programs to earn the distinction. The award honors high school and college programs coached by a current ABCA member that achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for the 2024-25 academic year. The Tigers turned in a program-record 3.22 GPA for 2024-25. Twenty-nine players turned in a GPA of 3.0 or higher, including 10 players with a 3.5 GPA and two with a 4.0. State at 2:00 p.m. | Salute to Service AHSAA NAMES ASSISTANT DIRECTOR - Former AHSAA girls’ basketball standout Tonya Tice Peoples will be joining the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s Executive Staff as an Assistant Director on August 21. Her roles at the AHSAA are still being determined. She and her husband Scotty Peoples have been on the staff at Muscle Shoals High School. Mrs. Peoples, who has been working with the Muscle Shoals Career Academy, has been serving as a career counselor and the Muscle Shoals School System Title IX Coordinator, and Mr. Peoples has been a coach on the Muscle Shoals varsity football staff. In high school, Tony Tice became a legend in prep basketball circles. She began her varsity career as a seventh grader at Phil Campbell High School – starting at point guard and leading her team to the1986 Class 3A finals. Phil Campbell reached the 3A state finals in 1987, falling to Lauderdale County. Her dad Mike Tice was hired at Pell City as head football coach in 1988. UAB MEN'S BASKETBALL ADDS TRANSFER - UAB men’s basketball head coach Andy Kennedy has announced the signing of UMASS transfer Daniel Rivera. Rivera is originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Before playing his high school basketball at James Monroe and Our Savior Lutheran in New York he was recruited to play college basketball at Odessa College, a JUCO in Texas. Rivera was named a JUCO All-American after starting in 23 games averaging 9.2 points 4.4 rebounds 1.52 assists per game. He jumped up to the Division I level in 2022-23 when he transferred to Saint Louis but redshirted the season. As a college junior he transferred to Bryant and started all 32 games in the 2023-24 season. Rivera put together 13.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game at Bryant. He recorded nine double-doubles during that season. Most recently, Rivera was a three-star transfer recruit by 247sports.com and spent the last season at UMASS. He started 24 games for the Minuteman while averaging 11.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists during the 2024-25 season. Rivera scored a season high of 29 against Fordham playing in a career high 48 minutes. Daniel Rivera joins Paul Djobet, Ahmad Robinson, Quaran McPherson, KyeRon Lindsay, Jacob Meyer, and Chance Westry as the seventh transfer portal signee to come to UAB ahead of the 2025-26 season. The Blazers have also added a pair of high school signees in Lance Carr and Salim London in addition to four JUCO signees in Evan Chatman, Ari Gooch, Dayjaun Anderson and João Das Chagas.

Talladega Superspeedway has announced that Alabama Manufactured Housing Association has been named the new ARCA Menards Series race entitlement partner. The Manufactured Housing 200 is set to take place next year at the iconic superspeedway as part of a multi-year deal. “We’re proud to announce this local partnership with AMHA being named the ARCA Menards Series race entitlement sponsor,” said Brian Crichton, Talladega Superspeedway President. “This partnership brings together two iconic brands for the state of Alabama and there’s no doubt that we’ll strive to showcase the quality and innovation of manufactured housing right here in our backyard.” Alabama Manufactured Housing Association members have set the standard for manufactured housing and the modular housing industry since 1968. AMHA member companies have provided safe, innovative and affordable housing for nearly half a million Alabama residents. The excitement continues into Sunday, Oct. 19, with the return of the YellaWood 500 during the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs Round of 8 at Talladega Superspeedway. Jacobi Sharp of Gadsden City earned North MVP honors with 15 points, five rebounds and two steals. He was 6-of-7 at the foul line.
