(Photo by Susan Armstrong) Highlight Photo Reel Pictures Following an open week on September 5, the Wildcats' remaining schedule includes: Southside (Sept. 12), at Mae Jemison (Sept. 19), at Mortimer Jordan (Sept. 26), Buckhorn (Oct. 3), at Gadsden City (Oct. 10), Hazel Green (Oct. 17), at Lee Huntsville (Oct. 24) and Pelham (Oct. 31). The Fort Payne High School football program is looking to complete back-to-back ten win seasons this fall. The Wildcats finished the 2024 season with a 10-3 overall record, marking the programs best ever season in Class 6A competition. If the Wildcats can win ten games again this year, it will mark the first time that Fort Payne has achieved back- to-back ten wins seasons since 2011 and 2012. It would also be a first for current head coach Chris Elmore at Fort Payne, who is entering his 8th season with the program. Elmore guided last fall's team to the third round of the state playoffs last fall, despite dropping the first two games of the season. This year, the Wildcats are hoping for a stronger early season start and an even better finish in the playoffs. Fort Payne will begin that quest on August 22 with a home game against the Scottsboro Wildcats. Last year, Scottsboro picked up a 31-6 victory in the Battle of the Wildcats. Week two will take Fort Payne to Guntersville for another Wildcat Battle on August 29. Wildcats looking for Back-to-Back Ten Win Seasons By Brandon K. Pierce The Sports Ledger
