APR Launches Global Design Guidance Platform The Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) has launched the APR Global Design Catalog, a com- prehensive resource to access the most current plastic packaging recyclability guidelines for coun- tries and regions around the world. Different countries and regions operate a vari- ety of recycling collection and processing systems. Many of them oversee complex Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) programs that hold manufac- turers and suppliers accountable for the end-of-life fate of packaging materials. EPR programs in virtu- ally all jurisdictions reference some design for re- cyclability index to encourage companies to design more sustainable packaging. The catalog includes guidance from Denmark, EU, France, Germany, the Netherlands, South Af- rica, South Korea, Sweden, and UK. It covers re- cyclability evaluations for rigid PET, rigid HDPE, rigid PP, and flexible PE film packaging. Additional countries and features will be added in the coming months. TLMI Holds Webinar Outlining APR Program TLMI recently sponsored an educational webinar highlighting the Association of Plastic Recyclers’ (APR) new Meets Preferred Guidance Recognition program. The program was developed to recog- nize the recyclability of established products in the marketplace. More than 70 converter and supplier companies attended the webinar, which provided an in-depth look at the program and its impact on the label industry. Within the Meets Preferred Guidance program, each element of a product design is classified into one of four recyclability categories as detailed in the APR Design Guide for Plastics Recyclability: APR Design Preferred; Detrimental to Recycling; Renders the Package Non-Recyclable; and Requires Testing. Antares Vision Group Acquires ACSIS Antares Vision Group (AVG), a global provider of hardware and software track and trace systems and a specialist in inspection systems and smart data management, has acquired ACSIS Inc. through its fully controlled company rfxcel for an enterprise value of $12 million.
