GOV.UK TO REPLACE BUSINESS LINK WEBSITE

19 September 2012

GOV.UK will be launched this October and will be the new website home for government services and information. GOV.UK will replace businesslink.gov.uk and Directgov, making it simpler, clearer and faster to find what you need from government. Content and services may look a little different to what you are used to, but you can still expect to find your key business information and transactions.

With GOV.UK:

 your 'My Business' profile will not be available after the switch to GOV.UK, so if you have saved items, e.g. results from tools or checklists, you may wish to copy or print them for your records  you will not need to register to use the general content or tools  if you are registered with the Government Gateway, those login details will still be valid for registration for other government services such as filing tax returns with HMRC  registration or login will still be required for Contracts Finder and if you use that service you will receive further information soon  if you have bookmarked pages on businesslink.gov.uk, you will be redirected to an appropriate page on GOV.UK To get an idea of how GOV.UK will work, you can use and give feedback on a trial or 'beta' version of the website now at www.gov.uk . As a public 'beta' it is not yet finished and more tools and information will be added.

CIPP Comment This site feels much easier to navigate than Business Link and items seem to be grouped in a more logical order. Let’s hope it does not become too cluttered when it is fully operational, but it certainly looks very promising and anything that makes our working lives simpler, clearer and faster, gets the CIPP vote.
