P46 (SHORT) & HMRC P46 PROCESS CHANGES SURVEY
9 January 2013
In the summer of 2012 HMRC amended the P46 to a single page, they also took measures to reduce the number of incorrect tax codes being issues due to unsigned P46s. This was with the aim of assisting business in both time and costs as reported by members attending the Employer Consultation Forum. HMRC are currently evaluating the success of these measures, and have asked industry bodies to assist them by canvassing employers. The policy team has created a survey which should take you approximately 5 minutes to complete. Before completing the survey you will need some numbers namely; how many BR codes you have received in September 2012 and in January 2013 and how many prefix D tax codes you received in September 2012 and then again in January 2013. We appreciate that at this stage you are unlikely to have the January data, so will not yet be able to complete the Survey, however be aware that it is live now and therefore will be available to you, when you do wish to access it. As always the policy team appreciate your time in completing the survey which enables the CIPP to represent the payroll industry and the CIPP members. The survey closes at the end of play 22 February 2013.
