Payment reminder letters were issued before the filing deadline. A further letter was sent at the end of July saying that a penalty may have already been incurred for the first month of lateness and that the return should be with HMRC by 6 August to avoid further penalties. If you wish to appeal against the penalty notice, you must write to the office shown on the notice within 30 days stating why you think the penalty notice is wrong.

HMRC BRIEFING: REPORTING AND PAYING HMRC IN REAL TIME

8 March 2013

As we countdown ever rapidly, towards 6 April, HMRC have produced a briefing sheet which is aimed at providing an introduction to all things real time.

Well, maybe it doesn’t cover all things real time, but it does cover the main players such as:

Full payment Submission (FPS) Employer Payment Submission (EPS) Due dates for payment along with due dates for the submission of an EPS With the links to further guidance (which as you would expect, is being updated regularly)

The briefing is to be used as an aid to help HMRC spread the word to all employers about the need to be submitting PAYE information in real time from the 2013/2014 tax year.

If you can think of someone who hasn’t yet heard about the introduction of real time then print out a copy of this sheet an pass it on – if you pass it one during the week commencing 11 March then give yourself an extra pat on the back for taking part in HMRC’s “RTI week” where spreading the real time word is very much the key theme! If you have taken the opportunity to watch the Pathé News item from 1944 which advertised the introduction of PAYE, then take heart, as your activities this week, may well be celebrated in another 70 years - they could indeed be history in the making.

THE RTI EXPERIENCE – JUST IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING WHAT IT WILL BE LIKE?

6 March 2013

As part of the countdown towards the RTI go live HMRC are promoting an interview with one of their RTI Pilot employers.

We are sure that you will fall in to the camp of ‘being more ready than you realise’ but just in case you are feeling a tad apprehensive – and why wouldn’t you be, after all RTI is being hailed as the single biggest change to PAYE in almost 70 years - then grab yourself a cup of camomile, sit back and watch an interview with an employer already submitting PAYE information in real time .
