PROPOSED CHANGES TO THE DILIGENCE AGAINST EARNINGS DEDUCTIONS TABLES IN APRIL 2013

15 August 2012

Due to inflation surpassing wage increases, it is proposed that the deduction tables be updated to account for inflation, rather than income increases.

Members can view the proposed changes to the Diligence against Earnings deduction tables in the document below. To ensure that the Regulations are finalised in time for payroll software updates, the Regulations will be presented to Parliament shortly after summer recess. Diligence against Earnings Review 2012 - proposed changes

CHANGE TO DILIGENCE AGAINTS EARNINGS (SCOTLAND) DEDUCTION TABLES

19 November 2012

Changes to the deduction from earnings tables have been published in advance of the Regulations coming into force on 6 April 2013.

Back in August we reported in CIPP News that due to inflation surpassing wage increases, it was proposed that the deduction tables be updated to account for inflation, rather than income increases. A review of The Diligence against Earnings Regulations has now been conducted and the regulations have been signed and will be lie in parliament for a period of 28 days. During this time the Regulations will be brought before the Subordinate Legislation Committee for scrutiny. Should there be no objections to the Regulations, then they will come into force on the 6 April 2013. To ensure that software developers have sufficient time to prepare payroll software, the government have made available a copy of The Diligence against Earnings (Variation) (Scotland) Regulations 2012, which contain the deduction from earnings tables (reproduced below). The Regulations also contain the customary explanatory note which details which changes have been made and the reason for those changes.

We will of course let members know in approximately 28 days if there have been any objections to the Regulations.
