The government is committed to introducing Early Conciliation. This consultation sets out the proposals that the government intend should be covered within Regulations and also details of the process that it proposes for the operational delivery by Acas.
They are seeking views in particular on:
The draft Regulations (at Annex A);
The draft EC form (at Annex B);
Whether there are any other jurisdictions, in addition to those we have identified, in which EC would not be appropriate;
Whether there is any evidence that the ECSO model we intend to operate is not appropriate;
Whether there should be a limit on the number of attempts, or length time, in respect of Acas’ attempts to contact the prospective claimant and, where relevant, the prospective respondent;
The contents of the EC Certificate;
Proposals for handling prospective respondent requests for EC.
Early Conciliation Consultation is available to download and responses can be made via Survey Monkey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/VGN9MGQ
CELEBRATE WORK YOUR PROPER HOURS DAY – WITH A LUNCH BREAK!
12 February 2013
If you regularly work unpaid overtime and apparently 5 million of us do, then you might want to take a note of the date of the 2013 Work your Proper Hours Day as set by the TUC. In its ninth year, the 1 March 2013 has been identified as the day in which the average person, who regularly works unpaid overtime, actually starts to earn for themselves. Taking a light hearted approach to a thought provoking issue, the TUC are encouraging us to celebrate the day by taking our proper lunch break, something that over half of us don’t do according to a recent BBC Poll , and leave work on time, something that we would hopefully find easier to do given that it is a Friday. The actual date of Work Your Proper Hours Day will differ for each individual as some work more and some less hours of unpaid overtime. If you get a free moment, you might want to see how you fare against the average date by using the Overtime Calculator
