EMPLOYEE OWNERSHIP & SHARE BUY BACKS – GOVERNMENT RESPONSE

The Department for Business Innovation & Skills (BIS) has published the government response to the consultation held in 2012 on recommendation V of the Nuttall Review.

The Nuttall Review on Employee Ownership which was published in July 2012 had recommended that the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills should carry out a consultation about improving the operation of internal share markets to support companies using direct share ownership, including holding private company shares in treasury and facilitating share buy backs.

REDUNDANCY – FACT SHEET FOR EMPLOYEES

The Insolvency Service Redundancy Payments Service has produced a fact sheet for employees facing redundancy following their employer becoming insolvent.

This fact sheet provides information and guidance to employees on what can be claimed from the national Insurance Fund via the Redundancy Payments Service (RPS).

It confirms what payments can be claimed for, subject to the current limit of £450 per week (as from 1 February 2013) and also provides the employee with a range of contact details that they might find useful at this difficult time. The Insolvency Service (INSS) is an executive agency of the Department for Business Innovation & Skills (BIS) which was established to regulate the insolvency profession. It pays statutory redundancy to employees of insolvent companies, conducts investigations in the public interest and provides practical information on insolvency procedures in England and Wales.
