In 2024, the museum acquired 452 new items , bringing the total number of objects in its collection to an impressive 19,415 . Of last year’s new acquisitions, 398 objects were donated, while 54 were purchased by the museum. Here are some highlights.

Photographs by Berenice Abbott, Sid Grossman, Arthur Leipzig and Leon Levenstein document New York City during the 1930s as well as other places in the U.S. and around the world. They add to our holdings, which are popular with classes in a variety of disciplines. As part of an upcoming reinstallation of the Swanson Gallery, a new wall designated for rotating photography displays will kick off with a pair of images by Abbott.
