PacketLight extends 400G ultra-long haul reach to 4,000 kilometres

PacketLight Networks, a provider of DWDM and OTN optical transport solutions, has extended the capabilities of its PL-4000T 1.6T 4x400G Transponder and PL-4000G 4.8T 12x400G Transponder solutions, enabling 400G transport across ultra-long- haul networks up to 4,000 kilometres. As global data traffic continues to rise exponentially and the need to support AI applications grows, network operators face increasing demand to build and interconnect existing networks across thousands of kilometres without sacrificing capacity, efficiency, or cost-effectiveness. PacketLight’s solutions for 4,000-kilometre reach are ideal for long- distance backbones and

transcontinental carrier networks. The PL-4000T and PL- 4000G support ultra-long- haul capabilities via a simple software upgrade. Powered by an 800G DSP chip, these systems feature advanced dual-polarization QPSK with probabilistic constellation shaping (PCS) to optimize spectral efficiency and resilience against noise and

nonlinearities. Extensive dispersion compensation, high receiver sensitivity and advanced soft-decision FEC (SD-FEC)help maintain robust performance across long and challenging fibre spans. PacketLight’s 400G transponders support these capabilities through advanced coherent optics, high-output amplifiers,

and optimized receiver design, delivering top performance without hidden license fees. These features help operators extend their networks across thousands of kilometres while maintaining optimal performance, and also improve OSNR in metro network links to support 400G wavelengths over challenging routes.
