CHRISTIAN SCIENCE continued person.” Only a person can experience the emotions a ttrib u te d to God throughout the Bible, as illustrated by these verses: “ I the Lord thy God am a jealous God” (Ex. 20:5); “ God is angry with the wicked” (Psa. 7: 11); “He shall judge the world” (Psa. 9 :8 ); “He will abundantly par don” (Isa. 55:7); “ God . . . rich in mercy” (Eph. 2 :4 ); “ God so loved” (John 3:16). A principle can feel none of these things for a principle can feel nothing. Neither can a prin ciple do the things God is said to do in His Word. Take for example the first chapter in the Bible, Genesis 1, and note the things He did: created, moved, spoke, divided, called and made. The Bible represents Him as a Person in whose image we as persons —personalities—were created. Mrs. Eddy goes even farther; “ God is identical with nature” (S & H, p. 13, 74th Ed.). Well, that is exactly what the Hindus believe. We have the word of Pandita Ra- mabai, the great Indian stateswoman, educator, former Hindu and Chris tian for this: “ Upon arrival in New York I was told that a new philosophy was being taught in the United States, and had already many disciples. The philosophy was called Christian Sci ence. When I asked what the teach ings were, I recognized it as being the
philosophy that has been taught among my people for 4,000 years. It has ruined millions of lives and caused immeasurable suffering and sorrow in my land. “ In our late famine philosophers felt no compassion for sufferers and did not help the needy. For why should they help when they claim the suffering was not real; neither were the dying children real. “ You are taught to view the uni verse as a falsehood. You are to think you do not exist. When you realize that you have no personality what ever then you have attained the high est perfection of what is called “ yoga” and that gives you liberation, and you become like Yoga without any personality.” Mrs. Eddy taught that God was not the Creator: ■ “ Spirit, God, has created all in and of Himself. Spirit never created matter” (S & H, p. 335, line 178). Notice she does not call God “a Spirit” as did Jesus: “ God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24). This statement in regard to the unreality of matter is reiterated throughout all of her writings, and as I stated before, is the basic, and I believe Satanic, delusion upon which all of her teaching is based. Actually, she is declaring here that the entire

Before Billy Graham opened his London meetings last winter Redd Harper went to England to show the films, “Mr. Texas” and “ Oiltown, USA.” Cowboy actor Harper always dressed in fine western style and in one village the towns people arranged a parade in his honor. At the head of the parade was to be Redd Harper riding on a rather spirited horse. Now Redd is not exactly a Casey Tibbs when it comes to riding. Obviously embarrassed Harper declined the honor and as one Britisher put it, “ he just led the beast through town.”
