King's Business - 1954-12

W hen Ralph Carmichael left Southern California Bible Col lege his notebooks contained 5,000 original musical scores. And his academic record contained a some what unimposing “ F” after his music courses. Four years earlier he had collected the same academic record in high school. Today Carmichael is the number one composer-conductor in the Christian film industry. Even his critics concede that Car michael is a brilliant star in his field. For “ Souls In Conflict” he filled 200

12x15 score sheets; then hired the top free-lance musicians available in Hollywood (including concert masters from the L.A. Philharmonic, the Rail road Hour, Dragnet and Dave Rose orchestras) to perform. The result is one of the top musical scores yet produced for a religious film. Carmichael writes to fit the edited film (see next page) and then his recorded score, the sound effects and dialogue are all mixed by technicians to produce a composite sound track for the film.
