Let Go of the Old Script and Become Who You Want to Be
Wrongful Death Serious Injury Trucking Accidents Auto/Motorcycle Accidents Drunk Driving Accidents Pedestrian Accidents Giving your pain a voice.
When Frodo emerges at the end of “The Lord of the Rings,” he’s not the same Frodo as he started. He was tested, challenged, and underwent a complete metamorphosis. In real life, to become the person you want to be, you have to go through your own changes, make deliberate choices, and let go of the stories, people, or habits that used to define you. Unlike the character in a novel, you get to decide the next chapter of your story before it ends. It starts with believing that you can rewrite the life you truly want. Our lives are made up of the stories we tell ourselves. The way you see yourself dictates the entire fabric of your life. Stories are really just stories, and once you realize that, two things start to happen. It becomes easier to drop the negative narratives, and then it becomes a fun exercise in crafting a better story or path that aligns with your vision. Say you’re not where you want to be. That means you need to do work to change your self-image, and you have to believe you have the capacity to change the script. It’s a bit of “fake it till you make it” as you begin to behave in the way you think the person you want to be would. As that story unfolds, you’ll get feedback from your
environment if you’re wrong about anything, and you can update as you go.
If you have taken an improv class like I have, you start the scene with just you and one or two partners. For anything to move forward, it can’t stay the same boring scene or set of roles. They teach you that the character has to change: get happy, sad, or learn something. It’s not that different from changing your own scene. If you have an idea of what you would like to be, the space between where you are and what you want requires something to shift to get there. Where people tend to go wrong on the law of attraction is stopping at manifesting. It starts with a vision and faith that you can and will have what you want. Success relies on your willingness to adapt and change. I went from not being a lawyer to being one. I took many steps to get there, but it started with believing I could, taking action, and growing every day. If you want to rewrite your story, know that you need challenges, sometimes mistakes, to overcome and make you stronger. If you don’t want to accept the fake stories that have been foisted upon you, why not write your own? In Stephen Covey’s seminal book “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People,” he lays out the habits you have to make if you want to change your life.

Most Americans know that too much sugar in their diet is bad for them, increasing the risk of heart disease, cancer, obesity, Type 2 diabetes, and other chronic conditions. While avoiding candy, desserts, and sugary drinks may be the first thought that comes to mind when you think about reducing sugar, that may not be enough. You may be getting hidden sugar in other foods that masquerade as healthy choices, such as granola, processed snacks, and smoothies. Hidden sugars are a major reason 12%–16% of most Americans’ daily calorie intake comes from sugar, instead of the recommended 5%–10%. Here are three ways to eliminate hidden sugars from your everyday diet. Eliminate This Hidden Hazard From Your Diet Get Smart About Sugar
Read Labels Did you know that ketchup is more sugary than ice cream? Marinara and other sauces are sugary culprits as well. Some canned foods also contain large amounts of sugar. A consumer’s best defense is to read labels. The most prevalent ingredients are listed at the top. Also watch for its many other identities, including high fructose corn syrup, maltose, and dextrose. Choose Full-Fat Nonfat or low-fat foods might seem like a healthy choice, but they often contain more sugar and calories than the full-fat alternative. Also, full-fat foods tend to be more satisfying. For a pleasing dessert, try combining a full-fat dairy topping with fresh fruit. The natural sugar in fresh fruit doesn’t rocket straight into your bloodstream in the same harmful way the sugar added to processed foods does. Increase Protein Not only are protein-rich foods good for you, but they also curb your appetite and carb cravings. In fact, they have the opposite effect as sugary foods, which tend to increase cravings and weight gain! Protein- rich meat, fish, eggs, avocados, and nuts can all be tasty allies in reducing hidden sugars. Don’t tackle all these dietary changes at once. Choose one at a time and stick with it until it feels natural. Embracing new habits gradually makes them more likely to stick!

Believe it is possible and define the story you want to tell. Act as if you were that thing already, and understand that an evolution will change you in the end. You may need to let go of friends who no longer serve you and partnerships that can no longer help you grow, and you will most definitely need to let go of your former self. You can write any story you want, but to live it, you have to transform and change. A lot of freedom comes in realizing you are the author. You get to choose the life you want, the energy you want to bring, and who you will become. If you want to learn more about the mindset that puts you in the driver’s seat of your life, check out author Mark Manson’s podcast “Solved,” especially his episodes on resilience and happiness.

1 Metamorphosis in Motion 2 How to Reduce Hidden Sugar in Your Diet Focus on Healing, Not Paperwork 3 Results That Speak for Themselves What Would You Name Our Firm? 4 Overthinking Overload? Try These Mind-Clearing Tips
We’ve all been there: lying awake at night, replaying conversations, imagining worst-case scenarios, or obsessing over things we can’t change. Overthinking might feel harmless, but when those thoughts keep circling, they can take a toll on your mood, energy, and overall well-being. So, how do you break the cycle? It starts with noticing what’s happening in your mind. Next time your thoughts go into overdrive, pause and ask yourself: What emotion is fueling this? Maybe it’s worry, guilt, or frustration. Recognizing the source is the first step toward loosening its grip. Turn down the mental volume. When your brain feels stuck on repeat, try redirecting your energy. Dive into a hobby, work out, learn a new recipe, or volunteer for a cause that matters to you. Shifting focus gives your mind a break and can help you feel more grounded. Breathing exercises also work wonders. Place one hand on your heart, one on your belly, and take slow, steady breaths in and out through your nose. It’s simple, but it signals your body to relax and can help calm racing thoughts in just a few minutes. Challenge your thoughts. Automatic negative thoughts (those instant, gloomy reactions) can trap you in “what ifs” and worst-case scenarios. Write them down, seek a more balanced perspective, and see if you can do anything about them. Taking small, thoughtful actions toward solutions can help quiet the mental noise.
HIT PAUSE WHEN YOUR BRAIN WON’T STOP TALKING WHEN ‘WHAT IF’ WON’T QUIT
And remember, you don’t have to figure it all out alone. Talking to a trusted friend or a therapist can give you a fresh outlook on managing those runaway thoughts.
